Observation: Must be something about having the name Trey Davis that inspires the ugliest possible shots ever seen on a basketball court. Their Davis looks like he was taught how to shoot by blind nuns in the dark. And somehow he's one of the leading scorers in the league?? How on earth is that possible.
Yeah well their Davis shoots 85% free throws so I would love to trade Davis for Davis
3-2 zone with Trey, Khwan and Deion on top looked really, really good.
Worked well since their best 3 players were guards. Glad we did something to adjust to another teams' strength.
It was great. Just too bad it took 21 games to figure it out.
Just making the other team prepare for a different D from the Spiders is an advantage for UR. And it did work to our advantage tonight. I agree it's a little late, but it does show CM is making some adjuatments. Said it in another thread, but also he is playing JJ now significant minuets. Mooney is making some adjustments which is refreshing.
There was about a nine minute stretch at the end of the first half where we were in the 3-2 zone and UMass could not score. Good job.
My only complaint was not getting TA the ball the last three minutes to continue his double digit scoring streak. I suspect TA would much rather have a win though.

TA had his chances, many missed free throws and SDJ fed him the ball down low with a minute left and TA missed a layup. He did have 16 rebounds.
Hey, like playing the zone and having big guys in place for a rebound. What a concept! Sometimes KISS is the way to go; just sad it's taken this long.
This might suggest that the players have gotten tired of getting toasted on D and are glad to try something else finally.
Any chance we play a zone the rest of the year? Seemed to work pretty well. Of course U Mass sucks but maybe it was the D..
It was like a swarm of bees around TA. Every time he got the ball down low, the defense surrounded him.
UMASS was daring TD and DT to beat them and the two seniors came up big with 7 points combined.

Mooney forced Fordham to turn the ball over with horrifically bad passes? Really?????? Boy, he is some coach.
I thought he won the game with his patented offense to defense switching in the first five minutes of the game. I think I finally figured out why these guys are so tired at the end of the game.
