Yes, noticed Marquis having a solid, if not spectacular year. He was so excited to be a Spider and Mooney let him slip away, or didn't go to bat strong enough. Seemed like a very nice enthusiastic player with some bounce and skill. Still recall a picture of him, Buck and Sherod at the RC. Now that would have been a triumvirate I could endorse instead of our do nothing, elitist current one.
Not trying to defend, but go back and read my dozen posts on this subject -- there was no "fighting" it came from the top. Things started to change once Ed was gone, took some time for Ron to put his staff in place. Don't know that if is where I would like for it to be, but much better. If that was another department then Mooney should have been in there fighting to get him in. Obviously got in and doing ok at ODU. Seems like an engaging and motivated guy.
Hey.....you're back.Friendly reminder:

Mooney is the top, or needs to take that stance. Apparently he is just an employee? Highest paid employee I would think.

if you know what happened, really know, our coaches handled this young man perfectly and he is where he is because of them. if recruits will stay off social media or at least not broadcast to the world something which has not taken place, this would have been a non-issue.
I don't think Mooney let Marquis slip away, he actually got a verbal commitment from him if I remember correctly. Pretty sure that was another department at Richmond...
Wrong again dude. If we had a deep team of juniors and seniors in front of him, we would say he is progressing nicely.Funny thing is if he had the same numbers here as he does at ODU right now, many on here would call him a failure and ridicule our coach for his lack of production. Yet, he goes elsewhere and now he is "another good one that got away". Laughable.

I don’t think he means players..."Now that would have been a triumvirate I could endorse instead of our do nothing, elitist current one"
To whom are referring as do nothing and elitist?
IIRC his ACT was so low it was a non starter with admissions.
Kendrick Warren
Bradford Burgess
Malcolm Bernard
JJ Avalia
AD Vassallo
All players that either wanted to attend UR/signed a LOI and we’re eventually denied or told to look elsewhere because of academics. These all happened under different coaching administrations. This isn’t something that started with Mooney and it won’t end with him either.
If you ask me you can thank Jerry Wainright for taking a mile when given an inch with regards to admissions. Think the admin swore never again after that experiment.
Wainwright was obviously not bringing in kids with enough of a mind towards academics. But the response should not be "never again". There is ground in the middle and room for compromise. We gave a lot of rope and it didn't work out, but that does not mean you take the rope away.
I heard similar ideas about Godwin and his scores. However Neon Boudeaux would say the ACT is culturally biased.
