The watershed for UR football was the Rocco affair. Rocco was correct when he said that Richmond was not committed to football, although he shouldn’t have said that when his team was still playing.
Perhaps he wanted a building dedicated specifically to football. Maybe a slight lowering of admission standards for athletic scholarships? Richmond said no, and he was out of here.
Richmond will have a difficult time recruiting in the CAA because of it’s highly competitive nature.
Plus I think Heusman is over his head. Perhaps we belong in the Patriot League, from where Hardt is from. Small schools with high academic standards. More our speed, than say JMU.

We are recruiting at a high level, and our facilities are much improved. As a coach, maybe RH is in over his head, but I still think it’s too early to say that for sure. This roster is very young. We need to see improvement as the year goes on, but there is no reason to think that UR can’t compete at a high level in the CAA. We have done it in the past and we can do it again.

Recruiting has definitely shown steady improvement. Huesman needs at least 4 years to get our program back to where it should be. Rocco cloud is still in place with few upperclassmen on roster. The coaching transition was ugly and we are still paying for it. Facilities are now in place and a foundation is being laid with recruits. Thankfully coach brought in some quality grad players to try to help bridge the gap.

I’m hoping the bye week is put to good use. We need to come out sharp next week and get an easy win. That’ll help everyone.

Actually, I have heard (you can file under rumors if you want) that there is a movement to build an indoor practice facility primarily for football, but would also be used by lacrosse and our other field sports.
Does anyone have any solid information on this?

Check out this vision

Amazing how technology has changed how we socialize and watch games. Most these stadiums were built before HD TVs and smart phones competed for their dollar/entertainment. They use to pack that place regularly when they were ranked when I was growing up.

The one that played for the Spiders, then the Giants and Eagles .

Look, I like Kyle. But he couldn’t crack the roster in NY where they were desperate for a QB and he’s on the practice squad. We’re not talking about even Joe Flacco level. He was a fine QB but he wasn’t so good that it was a forgone conclusion that you’d win a ton of games. I’m not saying that Russ is going to take us to a national title, but Rocco wasn’t going to either.

It is very difficult for a private school to win the I-AA/FCS National Championship. So far only three have won it: Furman (1988) UR (2008) and Villanova (2009).

You know, I am so tired of the "we are young, wait until next year" crap. We've been listening to that for years in the basketball program. Enough already. Maybe Russ is recruiting good CAA level players, but what I've seen while watching is a disorganized, and sometimes unmotivated, looking team on the field. That's coaching, not recruiting.

I'm sort of indifferent to the football program at this point, sadly. But Huesman has recruited three classes at this point, and some of those guys should be bearing fruit by now. A few seem to be, but not nearly enough have in any meaningful way. Maybe it will take longer, maybe the recruits aren't what we thought, or maybe they're not being coached effectively. No idea.

Missing one big number on KJ. In his one game with 14 passes thrown he was also intercepted twice! QB's just cant turn it over at the rate he consistently has and thats what led to him leaving.

KJ was not the starter at WIU - he entered after the starting QB was injured.
It sounds like he'll probably be the starter for at least their next game. As Philly pointed out, he is a turnover machine. He transferred partially because he felt he deserved to be QB1, and didn't win the QB1 job at the school he transferred to.

To think someone on here thought he could/should start over Kyle.....

We need to beat Fordham...convincingly...and build from there.

the only real loss from that group was brissett, and he now may have wished he had stayed. I'm more upset about grayson overstreet going to E&H. he wanted to be a RB and the staff said LB. once again we refuse to groom or recruit a big back. It will prove to be a huge mistake going forward. where would we have been without TIM,JOSH,and KENDALL …….OH there was 2 guys from yester-year BARRY & BARTY

Grayson never acclimated to the big city and UR.It was a concern to many people. It wasn’t an RB v LB issue.Grayson plays both LB and RB at E&H.

I'll point out the obvious and state they all played in the NFL.

As for the 2019 season, I hope we're not going to be 1&11!
