I'll start a new one. Injuries aren't excuses for these performances. It's been clear all year this team with "the best class in UR history" has been underperforming. There is always an excuse. Mooney IS the reason. Consistently outcoached. Talks about getting the bench more minutes but NEVER does. Our "stars" were not good tonight but he still doesn't play the bench. Yes the refs sucked. But there are always excuses. There was no guarantee we were making the dance last year and there is a very small chance we make it this year. GET HIM OUT OF HERE! 16 years is way too long! Our administration is a JOKE!

Bill board got them going last year!! Lol

We play like we expect things handed to us, or that we'll get around to caring with a few minutes left in the game if we feel like it. Holmes took the to us all day long. We did nothing to stop him. The last time we had a big bodied guard who could do that was Gonzo. It seems so foreign. A team of five Burtons would kick some serious ass. This team doesn't seem interested in that.

Not to detract too much but where did “best team ever” come from? I’m personally still sour at the repeated “best class ever” that Mooney & Hardt have stated repeatedly but I hadn’t seen “best team”.

I know the discussion won’t be fair coming after a loss but announcers did bring up the “do these guys come back” topic. It’s at least interesting to wonder what is going on there. But know we have another thread for it. The impact on legacy will be interesting but this best class ever sure better hit the reset button if it wants to play postseason

The injuries to Gustafson and Crabtree, after Nick, that’s Mooney’s fault?
You guys really need a reality check.
They don't help, but they don't account for failure to get ANY clutch defensive rebounds after missed shots by Bona on three late possessions, failure to hit critical free throws or just general malaise.

I just realized Dick Tarrant has more wins than Mooney. And spent 4 years less coaching...

So those are Mooney’s fault? Black and Beck both said the Spiders were playing hard. But, I guess they
don’t know.

Was the team in position to win a home game it had to win? It didn't look like it. Blame whomever you want.

wonder how common it is for a coach to be at one spot in a conference comparable to the A10 for 16 years and have two or less NCAA Tournament appearances to show for it
It is extremely rare.

I think the former coach at Penn State had the longest tenured non NCAA streak, so guessing Mooney is the winner now.
Pat Chambers started at Penn State in '11-'12, so he and Mooney were tied.

Yes
Is it ever Mooneys fault with some of you guys? Year after year.... It is his program

Some folks seem to be bigger Mooney fans than UR fans. If we gave him a 30 year contract and he made the tournament once they’d say it was worth it. You can’t tell me there aren’t multiple coaches who could have gotten us to the dance several times in the last decade. We aren’t Fordham despite what the excuse makers want to spin.

If we don’t meet expectations this year Hardt should be right out the door w Mooney after that inane extension. There r two sitting D1 athletic directors that r UR grads who could take control. And there r a couple outstanding coaches bob richey & ryan Odom who would fit great here. We have an outgoing President total regime change. This is not about our great players but need for accountability at highest levels. Shit needs to roll uphill once in a while.

Well said, I do understand there are injuries and other hurdles, but always excuses, year after year.

Hey, once every 8 years gets you a big contract and extensions into perpetuity. Nice gig to have.

For the Mooney supporters in here; I know y’all have been die hard supporters but if we go this year without an ncaa bid does that warrant firing mooney? I know what my answer is and what’s it’s been for the last 5 years. If he goes the entire length of the self proclaimed “best class ever” without an ncaa bid he has to be gone.

Hey, once every 8 years gets you a big contract and extensions into perpetuity. Nice gig to have.

23 has said it for years & validated by many others in the industry this is perhaps the cakest d1 gig in country. for a non p6 level get paid in likely top 10%, charter everywhere, have a very tame message board even in estimation of a players parent, have 1 of the best arenas in country, get a practice facility built, get favorable media treatment w no hardball questions maybe once every 5 years by JOC but then u can just go passive aggressive on said media & it goes away quickly, get extended TWICE off a TEN year deal that to date has given us ZERO ncaa bids, all with minimal expectations. Oh but a 1 day billboard.

ps my sources say the Crabtree & Goose injuries trigger an automatic 2 year extension. Right there in the contract.

Another ho hum postgame press conf. I realize the press isn’t going to go on the attack but nothing wrong w asking for assessment of team play so far esp after losing back to back home games favored to win. Or why we’ve regressed so much on D even tho we have 5 guys who r considered plus defenders Individually per Mooney.

U could tell Blake was pissed. I don’t dispute Mooney knowledge or analytical views he’s got those but there is no urgency & teams often take those cues from the head coach.

Mooney is going no where. He will be given credit for an NCAA appearance last year in the eyes of the administration and I still believe we will be on the bubble this year - and that will be seen as a success given the COVID circumstances. This is a moot point. He is not getting fired and only way he leaves is if he accepts another position somewhere else.
