Dr. Heilman under Hospice care

Praying for Dr. Heilman and his extended family as his health has deteriorated to the point of needing hospice care. He is a man with a strong Christian faith which is bringing comfort to both he and his family at this time. He has led an influential life as a World War II Marine Corps veteran and as a leader in higher education.

According to an e-mail I just received, he passed last night. A true giant at UR.

The author of that outstanding obituary, Bill Lohmann, is a UR graduate who attended school during Dr. Heilman's tenure. He also wrote the obit of a friend of mine who passed away several years ago, another outstanding effort.

Lohmann is a very talented and gifted writer.

He was one of the GREATS from the greatest generation! A gracious and unpretentious human being who loved the UR and represented it with class and dignity!
