Game thread time again!
Spiders head to the Charlotte area for their first A-10 game of the season, the first of six straight that will be televised by CBS Sports Network.
The Wildcats are off to a pretty strong start this year at 5–3, with the only head-scratcher being a loss to a bad Charlotte team. Otherwise, their two losses have been to Texas by a bucket and Providence by a single point after trailing for the entire game. They've beaten High Point, UNLV, Georgia Southern, Rhode Island, and Vanderbilt.
The common opponent in Vandy is a good comparison. Their game was somewhat the opposite of ours, with a tight first 15 minutes before Davidson started to pull away, ultimately winning by 20. Davidson was clearly the aggressor...+18 on the boards and going to the foul line 38 times ("only" made 25 of them), and their three-headed monster of Lee, Grady, and Collins all scored in the 19-23 range.
Lee has been money from three this year at 52%, averaging three made treys per game. Collins is also shooting well from outside at 44%, while Grady is at 36% and we know he can go off at any time. For the season, the Wildcats are +6.7 on the boards and moving the ball. Assists and turnovers are pretty similar to us, while they only get half as many steals as we do (though that's a high bar for them to meet thanks to Gilly). They do average three blocks a game, with Brajkovic being the main shot blocker for them.
Davidson always scares me even though we've won 6 of the last 8 against them, but they do appear to be a solid team this year, so I'm sweating this one yet again.
