Trump also banned travel between US and China. And that he was labeled a racist by the Dems. At the time you claim Trump was "downplaying" virus, Nancy Pelosi was literally out on the streets imploring people to go to China town and HUG Chinese people.

That is why nobody cares about this nonsense. Trump did the most that could be done while putting on a brave face. The Dems actively tried to subvert Trump's virus control measures and then afterwards complained like hysterical women that he didn't do enough. We saw how Dems deal with viruses in NY and NJ, which were had the worst response to Covid in the entire country.

The worm has turned on the Corona virus hoax. Having been oversees the entire time I see it in the expat community. Has gone from a broad range of opinion to, in the past month, overwhelming consensus against this ridiculous nonsense. The Democrats policy of Lockdowns have been totally discredited.

And btw, Russia is "laughing at us" because a couple months ago Putin looked at the data in Belarus (which had never shut down) and reversed course on lock downs. Moscow Mayor wanted to extend them indefinitely in Russia's largest city and Putin stepped in and overruled him. Declared "no more lock downs" much like Flordia's heroic Governor. Such a thing is possible in Russia where the President has broad powers to fire Governors and overrule Mayors on health and safety matters. Unfortunately, under the American system there is nothing the President can do to fix the problems in Democrat Cities and Blue States. Those Democrat Mayors and Governors don't answer to the President. Voters in blue states need to overthrow their own local leaders if they ever want to escape Corona hell and start living normally again like Red States and most of the rest of the world.

The difference of course is that Fauci was sitting next to his wife and a close friend, not two random people.... And there was no one else in the stands, since baseball games haven't had fans all year.
 
I have no issue with Fauci dropping his mask, but a comparative reading of DC's and Ohio's mask mandates is more relevant than "wife and close friend."
 
Not sure what you're suggesting. The woman in Ohio knew the rules going into an event where other people were present. She chose to disobey the rules, doubled down when told to put on a mask, became a belligerent idiot, then acted shocked and offended that she was removed and arrested. Fauci was sitting quietly with two people, one of whom was his wife, in an empty stadium and lowered his mask for a moment. I don't see the equivalence.
 
Like most, I do NOT enjoy wearing a mask, but I do religiously. Take some solace in having received unsolicited comments that it improved my appearance.

Well, it would seem to suggest at bare minimum that the rules are completely arbitrary and stupid. Some prole in Ohio is arrested and abused for not wearing a mask at an outdoor sporting event, while Fauci himself gets a pass for doing the same thing. I don't know what the "rules" are in the two jurisdictions, but the fact they are different in the first place and the fact the media appointed God Emperor of Covid himself chooses not to wear a mask in the same exact situation regardless of what the official "rules" are just shows the absurdity of the whole situation.

Active cases: Florida 371,000 ( 2nd most in the US), NY 65,000.

Nice to see NY cares about the virus. Too bad all states will not follow what they are doing right now. We all know what happened in NY early this year before we knew a lot about the virus. Now, that we know, it is inexcusable how DeShitis has acted and continues to act on this. Pretty much everything he has done, just like dumb ass, has been wrong.

Florida actually had three confirmed deaths with COVID yesterday. The rest were lag reported, with a lot of probables thrown in. The reporting lag nationwide is disgraceful.

"The Bucs, Jaguars, and Dolphins are a combined 4-5. The 0-6 combined Jets and Giants are actually doing much better. Really."

The reporting lag sucks, but at the same time, we just casually dropped a pandemic into the laps of underfunded public health and asked it at the drop of a hat to devise intricate and accurate reporting systems that can parse this data a thousand different ways and to coordinate contact tracing on every single case of COVID (!) while, oh yeah, still also doing all the other things they were doing pre-COVID. Kind of a big ask.

In Virginia, we also tasked local health departments with receiving, reviewing and responding to thousands of complaints against businesses that may not be following COVID protocol... while also continuing to do their normal jobs.
 
Yes, the health departments are overwhelmed. At this point, all the states have task forces and procedures in place for reporting the data, but they are still hopelessly backlogged. The problem this creates is that an opportunistic person would take license to disingenuously say "173 deaths yesterday." Anyone with a "University of Richmond Education" could look at the data and know that's simply not true. Granted, the number three will increase (probably over the next six weeks).

Consider the motivations of someone who refers to all positive tests as "active cases." Is someone who isn't sick an "active case?" How about someone whose positive test is indicative that they may have had the virus months ago - and were never symptomatic? We have trillions of viruses in our bodies. Are we "active cases" for all of them?

Liars lie. It's what they do.
 
I do think health departments should be more transparent about the fact that they report today as many cases as were reported/ entered into their systems yesterday but that in the next couple days, they’ll likely be adding more to today’s count, etc.

The general public doesn’t understand that. It’s why the 7-day metric is in use, because it gives a more accurate look and allows for most of the immediate backlog to be encompassed. In Virginia they intentionally lag that metric three days or so behind the current date to account for the initial backlog, which is helpful.

New deaths yesterday: Fla most in the country with 129. EL, even if there is a lag in reporting some deaths, with all states reporting like this, most deaths "with a lag" is still most deaths, and nothing to be proud of. Fla the past few months continues to be at or near the top each day as far as daily deaths reported, so any lag is insignificant. They reported just over 11,000 deaths at the end of August, and now have about 14,500, so 3500 deaths in a month this late into the virus is a terrible number. NY, by comparison, had about 250 deaths in September, so a lag has nothing to do with how poorly Fla is doing. And, only Louisiana and Mississippi have more active cases per 1 million people than Fla right now. Yet, DeShitis opens it all up as if they are doing well.
