CAA

Tbh, the second half of the Top 25 isn't very good either. I vote in the AGS poll and really struggle to justify why teams from about 17 or 18 to 25 deserve a ranking.
Doesn't matter how bad you are...if there aren't 25 better teams out there, you belong in there. :)

I'm not disputing how well the conference has performed this year but Towson receiving any votes is a joke with the two teams they have beat. And William and Mary is the 60th team receiving a vote in the Stats poll. How do 60 teams receive votes?? The bottom half of the receiving votes category is represented by poor football teams.
I've seen Towson play- this year, they are bad. If they got points it has to be an alumnus on the voting role.
They do have a qb that could easily become a real problem, next year.

What did we learn yesterday?

Elon backed up their win against us with another solid win.

Delaware's defense is really good.

William and Mary is probably a 3-5 CAA team at best.

UD at Stony Brook is an intriguing game next week, as is ours. Aside from JMU, this league is wide open this year.

Stony Brook has a favorable schedule missing both JMU, Villanova, and Elon while getting New Hampshire and Albany at home. They will most likely be 4-1, possibly 5-0 in conference when they arrive for homecoming on 10/28.

Unless Elon and Stony Brook are the real deal, which I'm not convinced they are, it is looking like a down year for the CAA outside of JMU. Meanwhile, the MVC looks dominant once again.

Nate Evans named CAA frosh of the week. Sure wish we could have held on to him.

7 CAA teams ranked in the STATS poll this week:

1. JMU
12. Nova
13. UNH
14. UR
18. Elon
23. Stony Brook
24. Albany

I could argue that Delaware should also be ranked, given their tough home loss to #1 JMU.

CAA standings 2--->9 wide open for playoffs.

With likely only 1 seed and a mediocre overall rating, the CAA likely gets in a total of four(4) teams with
none worse than a 7-4 overall record. Can we go 5-2 over the next 7 games? One game at a time, let's see.

We have some pretty obvious flaws but I think we grow into being one of those playoff teams. I think our fate comes down to the Stony Brook game. That team has the ability to name the ball down our throat like Elon did. I'm counting on a loss at JMU and probably 1 other road loss.

If we don't win at home Saturday it may a be irrelevant.

4 losses=no playoffs

We will win 2 to 3 the rest of the way. We just flat out can't stop anyone defensively and are not a very physical team up front on either side of the ball. Really we just flat out aren't very good.

I hope we don't go 0 & 8 in conference!

Impressive win by VU over Maine.

William and Mary is going to be worse than 3-5 in the CAA.

SBU and the Chickens are in a fight.

Lauletta Named CAA Offensive Player of the Week

Release: 10/09/2017

RICHMOND, Va. – Entering his final collegiate season, Kyle Laulettaknew he wanted to save his best for last.

Lauletta is doing just that for the University of Richmond football team, tossing for over 300 yards for the fifth consecutive game and three more TDs, along with his first rushing TD of the season to lead the Spiders to a thrilling 41-38 double-overtime win over Albany this past Saturday.

For his efforts, the Exton, Pa. native was named CAA Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Lauletta finished with 353 yards on 24-of-40 passing, while throwing for three more TDs. He also rushed for 19 yards and a TD. His fifth consecutive 300-plus yard game is a school record for longest streak and gave him 13 for his career, also a school record.

The three TD passes moved Lauletta past Spider great Eric Ward and into sole possession of the program record for passing TDs with 62.

He is currently is second in all of Division I with 404.6 passing yards per game and first in passing TDs per game (3.4).

Lauletta and his teammates hit the road this weekend when they travel to Towson for a critical CAA matchup. Game time is set for 4p.m.

At current pace, Kyle is a frontrunner for the Walter Payton Award. That will be pretty cool for him to be in that discussuon.

Sad to say this but only if our record is more than above average and we make the playoffs and we advance.

Perhaps. Haven't there been some Payton winners that put up gaudy numbers on a crappy team (not to suggest we are a crappy team)?
