Quarterback Cole Johnson contributed 380 yards and two touchdowns offensively and Ethan Ratke kicked a program-record six field goals as James Madison (9-1, 6-1 CAA) held off William & Mary, 32-22, to improve to 5-0 on the road. Johnson finished 24-of-42 passing for 334 yards and added 46 yards on the ground. JMU took a 13-0 halftime lead after a pair of Ratke field goals and a 30-yard scoring pass from Johnson to Kris Thornton. Johnson's 2-yard TD run midway through the third quarter pushed JMU's advantage to 23-0, but William & Mary (6-4, 4-3 CAA) used a couple of big running plays to battle back. Malachi Imoh got the Tribe on the board with a 53-yard TD run late in the third period and Bronson Yoder broke free for a 42-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter to make it 23-15. However, Ratke connected on field goals of 27, 29 and 30 yards to break his own CAA record with 28 for the season and put the game away. JMU's Antwane Wells, Jr. made 9 catches for 134 yards, while Kelvin Azanama had 11 tackles and 2.0 TFL's to pace the Dukes' defense. Imoh tallied 101 yards on the ground to lead W&M and Yoder tacked on 69. Trey Watkins had 13 tackles for W&M defensively.

Box Score

Quarterback Joe Mancuso accounted for 295 yards of offense and five touchdowns as Richmond (5-5, 3-4) beat Delaware, 51-27, for its third straight victory. Mancuso was 13-of-21 passing for 179 yards and 3 TD's and ran for a team-high 116 yards and 2 TD's. The Spiders jumped out to a 14-0 lead on first-quarter scoring runs from Mancuso and Aaron Dykes. Delaware (5-5, 3-4) battled back within 17-14 in the second quarter on a 19-yard TD pass from Zach Gwynn to Thyrick Pitts and a 1-yard Gwynn scoring run. Still leading by three in the third quarter, UR got a 2-yard TD run from Mancuso followed by a defensive score when Kobie Turner scooped up a fumble after a Phil O'Connor strip sack and returned it 17 yards for a TD. A 10-yard TD pass from Gwynn to Gene Coleman II pulled the Blue Hens within 37-27, but Mancuso fired TD passes to Connor Devaney and Jasiah Williams in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Tristan Wheeler made a team-best 11 tackles and an interception for the UR defense. For UD, Gwynn was 25-of-45 passing for a career-high 331 yards, with Pitts making 11 catches for 169 yards. Noah Plack recorded 14 tackles for the Blue Hens' defense.

We haven't been beating the heavyweights of the CAA (are there any CAA heavyweights any more?) ...but we are playing some pretty good complimentary football right now. Realizing we needed to do alot more to habe a competent backup quarterback rostered, but it's a shame that we missed Joe for those 3-4 games because we are looking like a playoff team right now.
