If you go back to the first 2 games and watch what was happening Coll was blowing people up and sealing the end of the line of scrimmage, which allowed for big runs. Don't know what happened at Elon but he was in for 1 play and then stood on the sideline wearing #72 for the rest of the game. Now you have film on the UR offense and any DC sees #90 on the filed they stack the box because it's going to be a running play. Durden's answer to this is to have Coll block one way and run the ball away from the side he is blocking. You still have everyone on the defense up close looking for the run so it's easy for them to overload the line and make plays. I read people on here talking about how bad the OL is in the running game. Not their fault when the defense is stacked to stop the run and there are more people to block than blockers (common sense, you would think). Even the holding calls on the OL are from English's indecision. There is a reason he was 3rd string at AF for 2 years. He has happy feet, holds the ball too long and is slow when he finally decides to run. Not to mention his arm strength is weak. He actually bounced a couple of 10 yard passes in the UAlbany game. Mancuso is a turnover machine but is far better than English at the position, especially when he decides to run. My feelings are if you are going to give up on this season and risk your job by going 2-10 then play the freshman. Why save his RS if you might not be here to coach him. Not to mention what a 2-10 season is going to do to recruiting. Back to the TE issue. This Coll kid was the VA 6A First Team All-State TE last year so you know he can catch the ball. You need him on the field to block so throw a couple of quick hitters to him over the middle each game to back off the LB's and that will open up the running game. You also need to run the running backs more. I can't believe any kid would want to come to UR as a running back watching this offense. The bottom line is Durden is bad. No team that doesn't huddle up should be taking a full play clock to call/run plays.
