Bryce Golden - Butler commit

competition will be high, but we do hold an Ace with Grant

Hey, we all know he is a top 100 recruit and will get offers from multiple P5's and normally this is the point we get dropped. BUT, I do agree with Ulla that we have a chance here. I think having a couple of nice classes ahead of him does not hurt. Hopefully Mo does not have any inside scoop that says we are not in the game.

It's not out of the realm of possibility...but it's probably out of the castle, countryside and shire.

To me 2 biggest things giving us a pulse here are 1. already having Grant and 2. being thin in the front court.

It's a long shot but I think our staff would be foolish to not keep pushing on this one.

I know a close friend of the family and was told that Bryce is digging the attention he is getting. When I asked if he was still eager to play with his brother, I was told yes, but it is not a done deal. Keep your fingers crossed.

he's getting monster offers and he's not done.
but we still have a very good shot. coming to UR will not hurt him in any way if he hopes to play long term. we have a couple of great classes in front of him. with one more recruit to be added, this could possibly be the most talented roster we've had. so he'll have a chance to win a lot of games and play in tournaments. his brother is here. family would love them together. and on top of that, we seem to be leaving an intentional hole in the front court for him. he'd play right away at the 4 or 5. even if we didn't have a hole I'm pretty sure he'd force his way on the floor right away anyway, but the front court opening ensures he'd play with, not in lieu of, his brother. that would be pretty cool. and we'd be loaded.

All in on Bryce. I have seen some on this board imply that we are out based on his rankings and offers now. We do have one thing every other school does not - his brother. Being he is only a junior in h.s., this seems so far off, but he would be a great addition to the last two classes. This kid seems to have it all. Who knows, he may want to take his own path, or may see the stars of the ACC or other conferences, BUT it does seem from comments that playing with this brother is a definite factor.

We all know that not all recruits are looking for the highest offer, or the biggest name school. Bryce may have other important factors he will consider, including the chance to get immediate playing time, and the chance to play side-by-side with his brother. And, this does not even consider that we will have a strong nucleus of young start and a very family-friendly set of teammates and coaching staff. The fact that we have held a spot for him also speaks volumes about how much Bryce is wanted. And, it can really matters to a recruit that they are a team's first priority. This will likely come down to factors other than the recruiting school's name...

hope he spends a bunch of weekends on campus visiting Grant and getting to know the great kids we have in the program. we're not going to be his highest offer. but it could be the right place.

Bryce is clearly a very talented player and many programs will be interested in him.

However, for some players it is not all about the "highest offer." Some recruits, like Buck and Nick (and maybe Grant) feel that other factors, like playing for a team that is like an extended family, playing in Richmond, going to a high-caliber academic school, and maybe playing with a brother, are equally as important, if not more so. I believe that Bryce will likely keep his options open for a while and carefully weigh the +s and -s of attending UR. The team certainly will have great potential for a multi-year NCAA run with Bryce on-board, and with Bryce and Grant manning the front line, along with the fabulous set of guards that we already have on-board. Playing with these future teammates could simply be too attractive to pass up! ...

You can hardly call Syracuse a dump, in so far as basketball is concerned. Pitt is more dump-esque...

I don't ask this flippantly, but I wonder if there will be any residual effect on Bryce's recruitment given Grant's incident this year?

I just hope he gets proactively evaluated for the same disorder. Didn't I read that his dad had it too?

Syracuse just dumped about 101 wins for cheating, but who's counting.

Just go to weather.com and see extended 15 day forecast, that's why I've never been to and have no intention of visiting anytime soon. Just from my perception is like so many other mid-major NEast cities that appear old and tired.

So he may be deciding before Grant plays again? That isn't helpful. I hope Grant is talking to him...

well, he'll either really want to play with Grant or he won't. if he really does, though, I would have thought he'd throw our name out there in an interview.
those are good but not mind blowing offers so far. I expect that list to improve.

I agree Spiderman, he either wants to play with his brother or he doesn't. Also agree that this is not a great list of basketball schools and also expect it will improve. The Golden brothers would certainly be huge fan favorites at UR (from what I hear, the girls like Grant) 3 years with his brother and 2 years with Nick and Buck. If he comes I will guarantee 2019 and 2020 NCAA appearances. :)

Bryce's offers are OK from a basketball perspective, but none are academic powerhouses, either. Plus, the Clemson offer has the very real possibility of Brownell getting the boot, and probably not landing at a better program. Pitt is also a bit of a dumpster fire right now with Kevin Stallings and all of his problems. Penn State will never be a basketball-centric school. Right now, I put our offer right below Temple, and if he wants to play with Grant it may not matter.
