Spiders just offered Grant's brother, Bryce Golden! Outstanding! Roll Spide!

Outstanding! As a parent, one can certainly understand her sentiments.

we need Mom to pay more than lip service to this, she needs to push, cajole, withhold laundry and food services until we get that second commit. come on Mom, you can do this!!

Two years is a long time to wait...this thread could be a long one. :)

His other offers are GW, JMU, Wofford, and High Point....mirrors Grant's final five choices except substituting High Point for Grant's San Diego.

Supposedly Florida, Alabama, Georgetown and Creighton were showing interest as of last month.

I'm certainly not looking for a commitment now. that would be crazy in my opinion. and somewhat meaningless. what's nice is that he'll be part of the Spider family for the next 2 years anyway, visiting a bunch of times I'm sure and connecting with the team and the staff. hopefully Grant has a great experience and Bryce wants to join him here.

I just realized something...unless we hold open a 2017 slot or we have a transfer, we have 0 scholarships available for 2018.

I'm sure things will shake themselves out considering we've got a couple of years still and we made an offer, but I thought it was interesting.

SF I wouldn't worry about that. As the old saying goes - Spider in hand better than two in the woods. :)

Have we ever had early commitments that bailed out on us? I'm sure we have- but I can't recall any.

Not worried...like I said, just thought it was interesting. Plenty of time for things to shake themselves out.

yeah, one. switched to WVU I think on signing day.

Chris Moss. Beilein era. Local Richmond kid. He played in Robins Center though, that blowout NIT game we had over the Mountaineers. May have been his last game even.

I dont think we can count Patrick Beilien (walk on) nor Johannes Herber who was coming here but never officially verballed or signed. Both had nice careers at WVU.

This guy is going to be one outstanding player. His level of development as a high school sophomore is quite impressive.

Bryce certainly seems keen on playing alongside Grant.

With his older brother Grant recently committed to Richmond, Bryce entertained the thought of playing with his older sibling in college.

“That’s definitely always been in the back of my mind. And it’s definitely what my mom wants me to do,” said Bryce. “I’ve been thinking about that a lot, and I think it would be really cool to play with him at the next level, especially because I didn’t really get to play with him a lot in high school because he got hurt last year.”

Copied from another thread...

Bryce stats so far:

12/1 W @ Wakefield, 79-37: 9 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 blocks
12/3 W St. John's 84-78: 15 points
12/8 W @ Allegany 76-60: 11 points
12/10 W @ Briar Woods 57-51: 19 points, 4 boards
12/12 L Virginia Episcopal 53-56 OT: ?
12/15 W Mercersburg 78-51: 13 points

13.4 ppg for the five games I found stats for.

From what I've seen, Bryce is considered a higher level recruit than Grant, once you account for him being two years behind.

I think that it is reasonable to assume that our chances with Bryce will be greatly enhanced by Grant's success and happiness in our program. Though he has only been here a few weeks, everything I have heard thus far is that Grant and UR may be a perfect fit and that he is very happy, enjoying his experience, and bonding well with the rest of his teammates.

classes haven't even started and he's travelled with the team to Ireland and Amsterdam! what's not to love?!

Believe it's always the fourth Monday in August, so given August started on a Monday this year, this year's start on the 22nd is the earliest possible start date. Could be as late as the 28th some years if the 1st falls on Tuesday.

at least the dorms are all air conditioned these days. Marsh was mighty steamy back in the day.

Kids got back on campus on the 17th, and classes started Monday. It's a week earlier than a lot of schools.
