Am making the trip to Brooklyn for the tournament. Its the first A-10 Tourny I will be attended with Mrs. O-Line.

Was looking for some tips and hints around:

Tickets
How do we buy tickets? - an all-session pass is pretty pricey and not sure I would be up for that many games. Is it easy to just buy tickets for the sessions that we end up playing in? Will UR coordinate any ticket buying to get us in a central location? Any good advice here?

Spider gathering Bar and/or social events
Is there any specific bar that would be a location for Spider fans? Does the Spider Club put anything together typically? Is there anyway to leverage our numbers by being together?

Other tidbits
Any other hints or tips for a first time attendee from some of you vets that have been to tournaments and info on Brooklyn.

Thanks all

Hope to see a lot of Red at the Barclay Center.

I will be attending but i'll be buying single session passes this year. I bought the all session booklet last year but felt buying the booklet was a bit of a jinx. FYI, the single session passes are expensive. As i recall, $50.00 or more to sit in the lower bowl.

You will be able to buy tickets at the box office before all the games without a problem unless Semi Final Saturday has us and 3 teams with larger fanbases in the area ... RPI, Bona and Umass, for instance. So you might want to plan ahead for Saturday in the off chance something like that happens.

The Spider Club will usually do a pre game event before all the Richmond games. Last year, it was at a BWW. I'm hoping they go for something with more of a local flavor this year.

See you there!

You can always get cheap tickets for the next day's games from the fans going home. In 2011 when we beat Temple, the tickets were free. The place was half empty anyway.

Do we have a deal with Marriott for special rates for the tourney? Can't find it on the website.

I have family in New Jersey and take the train in from there. So I don't know much about the hotel deal.

I know other Spider fans have used hotels in New Jersey and also used the train as a means of saving some money.

Tickets - this is the best deal you'll find in advance if you can find 4 total people (or partner up with 2 others to buy the deal). No idea where tix are, but go for lower level tix only. Upper level sucks (if they even open it). Even in an arena 2/3 empty, the ushers are still sticklers for checking tickets so it's tougher than expected to move down. https://oss.ticketmaster.com/aps/nets1/EN/promotion/home The $10 concession credit in the deal = one $9 beer, for example, so don't plan on that being your dinner. Barclays is expensive. As said, you should be able to get day-of tickets on stubhub or at the box office, though I will say that our game vs vcu last year had a scarcity of tix available online on stubhub in lower sections likely becuase VCU and UMass were both also playing, as was GW and it was Friday night session. You can also check craigslist, where ppl are often unloading tix they got from their companies and stuff like that. Also, UR usually sells session tickets for the UR section, so should check w/them.

Staying nearby - your best bet is probably to do an Air bnb if you're going for value. Otherwise there's a Holiday Inn Express on Union St. between 3rd and 4th Aves that is a 10 minute walk from the arena and some other hotels that are on 4th Ave. that are a little bit further than that. Hotels, similarly, are expensive, so def. explore the Air bnb route, especially if you're okay with something simple/small. Nearby neighborhoods to check for availability are: Park Slope, Ft. Greene and Prospect Heights. If you have questions about where something is and if it's close enough/safe enough, post and I'll let you know. Staying in Manhattan is also simple as tons of subway lines go right to Barclays and are 15 minutes from lower Manhattan and 30 from midtown to the arena.

That UR reception at Stout is 1) in Manhattan, around the corner from MSG 2) on Tuesday, likely 2 (and possibly 3) days ahead of when UR plays. I'm sure they'll send something closer to the event. As mentioned, last year was in the Fulton Mall across the street from Barclays. Great for convenience, terrible for atmosphere. It was a buffalo wild wings, totally generic chain but you do need space for a lot of ppl and it has to be planned pretty quickly so I am not complaining. As said, allowed simple walk across the street to Barclays. 200 Fifth is a great sports bar about a 10 minute walk from Barclays, so probably too far away for a pregame event like this but good bar food and a million tvs.

anything else I can help with, lmk.

I hope we have sent emails / mailings to locals near the area. We need a good crowd. Looking forward to it!

Y'all hit up Spider Club for details and deals. Many Marriott hotels near trains in Manhattan and Brooklyn alike. I recommend staying in Manhattan as I've heard Brooklyn will be overrun by sheep.

WCUR11. The sheep have claimed all the Motel 6's, Super 8's and the overnight rest stops, so the Marriots should be available. :)

TICKETS

I just got mine off the Richmond Website - guarantees lower bowl $175 all session pass seemed to be the safest, and will be in the UR section.

What are other folks doing? It seems ticket prices vary among the different schools websites.

I thought $175 was OK and I think if we are all together we can make more noise/impact.

This is going to be fun!!!

I am going to 'pay as I go this year'. If we make it to Sunday, it will be more expensive ... but at least we'll have made it to Sunday. See you there.

What section(s) is the Richmond allotment?

It is TBD on the order form so I don't know.

As soon as I get them I will post location.

Probably will try to talk to ticket folks Saturday at the game and see what's up.

Anybody else have more info?

The tournament book I got via the UR ticket office is in section 22. That ought to be us.

So I heard BWW in Brooklyn is the pregame spot. That's cool, see you there. Where else might some Spiders imbibe in some top shelf spirits locally?
