Kind of surprised that it is not UConn but Boatwright was injured and did not play.

This should be an evenly matched game. ASU beat an outstanding Arizona squad this season. The Sun Devils reminded me a bit of the Spiders, inconsistent throughout much of the season but with the potential to knock-off some pretty good teams.

Spiders will need a better defensive effort to win. Playing at home should help since ASU will have to travel across the country. Hope there is a sellout crowd on Sunday.

I'd guess that ASU will be staying on the East Coast...no need to travel back to Tempe after beating UCONN.

Dear God, I dont ask you for much but please let the Sun Devils bring their cheerleaders and dance squad.

Well how often do you believe he thinks about the Arizona State cheerleaders? It sounds like a frequent occurrence.

I think about women alot. My wife. Cheerleaders. Your wife. It's all good stuff. But particularly ASU Cheerleaders.

+1, Mo. Well stated.

I havnt seen ASU play this year. What style do they play? Is their strength on the perimeter or on the block. Really looking forward to this game. GO SPIDERS.

The Sun Devils were terrible on the road this year as well as on the FT line (~66% from the line). It's been a transition year for them - Herb Sendek has 5 JUCOs on the 2014/15 squad. He's had a tough time trying to put together a consistent starting lineup, with more than a half-dozen different lineups this year. They offense is pretty evenly distributed among four guys who average between 9-11 ppg. Gerry Blakes and Shaquielle McKissic are both JUCOs who are among the leaders in scoring. Their top 3 pointer (Gilling) is from Denmark and comes off the bench. They push it up the court when they have the opportunity but generally prefer a more deliberate style of play.

Their curtain of distraction at home games is definitely the funniest thing I've seen at a college game...too bad they can't bring it to the Robins Center LOL.

Mo, your my hero. Wait, i'm years older, oh well. Do not like spiders chances vs Az St. Prediction, we lose by 10.
..

MO, now you are talking!! I was hoping for UCLA but ASU will do!! Lol

They can bring the curtain, but only if the cheerleaders are behind it.

Looks like 7:30 Sunday night...

Fan1, did I read that right? Even with their win at UConn we have more road wins than they do?

Kenpom indicates

The three NCAA teams lose by one.
The other two NIT teams lose by four.
We win by five.

Have we ever faced Arizona State? Or any other team from Arizona for that matter?

Believe we're 2-0 against them. Played them out there during OOC and got the W in 2010 during Sweet 16 season.

We also played Arizona down in Tucson in '04 - lost that one by 13. It was during the time Jamaal Scott was playing as senior (he was from Phoenix). When I was at UR back in the 80s, we won the Cactus Classic holiday tournament at Arizona State.

Sun Devils play 8 primarily with 610 center then 6"6 and 6'5 forwards and 6'4 guard and 6'1 guard. So not
huge but Sendek played a 3 pt shooting offense at NC State. So lot of similarities to us with height, # players played
and such.

Note UConn started 7'0, 6"10 and 6'7 and two guards both 6'4, so ASU must have rebounded decently or shot
the ball well or UConn could not hit broad side of a barn. But that was a big starting five just under that of Kentucky.

I believe Sendak runs, or has run in the past at least, a modified Princeton offense. If that is still the case, they'll be familiar with what we run. They do seem to be pretty anemic on the road, however (last not notwithstanding).

Even with the last game, they are 3-12 away from home, even WE are 5-10.

They also seem to have a pretty good-sized team. Two 6'4" guards with bulk, a couple 6'5"/6'6" forward with bulk, two 6'10" guys and one 6'8". Could be a similar type game to the Rhody game. Guarding their backcourt could be an issue for us. The kid Shaq McKissic is a 6'5" forward who leads them in scoring with about 13 ppg.

They have 3 seniors and 5 juniors in their rotation. It will be a good test for us. Hope they get some jet lag, if they bothered to fly back home last night.

I read that they were flying to VA today instead of heading home.

In that case, hopefully they are homesick and miss their mommies by the time the game comes around Sunday.

Would have liked to see the defending national champs come to the RC. We never get a top notch program to come to us.

win again and we'll get either Miami or Alabama -- Alabama has been here in the past and so has Laranaga, not sure which one I want -- except the one we beat

And I hear both the Bama and Miami cheerleaders are no slouch either!
