At St. Joes In Game Thread

This is a game we would have lost earlier this year. Well done by coach and the team. Gut check win on tired legs by the Spiders.

We're going to run the table fellas. Then get to the A10 championship game and then..............

So, the Spiders are only 1 game behind our cross town #22 ranked rivals in the A10 standings. Hope Woody points this out. Roll damn Spide!

Yes !!!!! Mooney finally had learned to pull the goalie at the end of the game!!!! Lol. Very timely win, happy for the guys!!

Tell ya what, if we win these last two, we have a very real shot at a top-4 seed. And even if we don't get it, no one is going to want to see us in Brooklyn.

I'll pipe in, great win. On to umass. We need to be in the top four for the tourney. Hopefully we can meet the guys from downtown for the championship. Three peat would be sweet.

Great win - we continue to move up. Peaking at the right time - 4 out of 5, 2 on the road.

For those who called the Spiders, 'mediocre', eat your words.
Sorry, 17-12 is the very definition of mediocre.
I would say 15-14 with a SOS of 150 is the definition of mediocre.

I don't know how the season will end, but, anyone who calls this team 'mediocre', is not a Spider fan, in my very humble opinion. Kudos to our guys, it's always hard to win on the road.

Thin team got too "3 happy" and didn't go to the rim enough, but a W is a W. And like that other than a few lapses, the D was locked in and the steals are starting to come in bunches. Critical for us since we're so bad at rebounding. Great game on the road and let's keep the momentum rolling. On to taking those Minutemen out.

can't we just enjoy the win without trying to slam another poster(s). We don't need to start that cycle again. We've got 2 more in the regular season, but only one matters now -- on to UMass

Out rebounded 37 to 26. Won turnover battle 6-14. We were 9/26 from 3 point range.

add to that 13-4 on steals, maybe we can say we stole this one

A great deal of credit to the coaches and players for how they defended Bembry. He'd been averaging 22 points a game in his last dozen outings and was held to just six tonight.

Kendall was awesome, but Terry Allen continues to play fantastic ball. Missed his 4th straight double-double by 1 board.

I'm not sure when it happened but the "switch" has been turned on and appears on to stay. TA is demanding the ball on offense, looking to score every time he touches the ball. Defensively, he is getting at least 1 or 2 big steals a game and just grabbing some monster defensive rebounds. And for a guy who didn't even try to dunk his first two years, he is rocking the rim every single game now.

Great win on the road with tired legs coming off an emotional rivalry win just a few nights ago. I'm willing to forget the first part of the year and jump on the train.

Beat UMass, let's get this bye.

Just posted in other thread. but I thought Terry played as poorly as he possibly could have for the first 10 minutes of the game. Probably 3 passes right through his hands for no reason except concentration. Also, plays like UR's first defensive possession where he had a clean rebound but failed to corral it and it went to SJU for a second chance opportunity. Then same thing on offensive end to start 2nd half, ball right through his hands. Coach pulled him at one point because of it.

His stretches of great play were indeed great but that's the frustrating part - there are the glimpses of a star, then the lazy turnovers and MIA play for other stretches.

I thought he could have taken the SJU bigs all night off the dribble but only a few times did he demand the ball.

His play is def. improved but tonight was more of a mixed bag as far as I was concerned for him.

I loved DT's hustle tonight, really was a difference maker.
Deion has stepped up big time since ANO went down. His role has really come into focus since ANO's injury. He is finally doing a lot of the "intangibles" that he was getting credit for, and that I never saw, earlier in the year.

Deion is doing many other things now and playing some pretty nice defense. However we don't want a guy who only makes 20% of his dunks and 8% of his 3's shooting the ball from anywhere on the court!! It's a turnover 80%, or more, of the time. I do give him credit for sinking two free throws tonight. Nobody wants him to make 40% of his shots more than I do, but it isn't happening this year.

Could have tanked it after the st jo rally but they didn't! They kept coming back and fighting to the end. Not our best game but a very gritty performance. Some ill advised shots (from 3 pt. range) in the latter part of the game didn't help but all in all a nice game by the guys, especially after the high they came off of with the ram game.

I agree with what you are saying about Taylor 97, but he should never shoot, period. He is just awful. What happened to his shot. He was pretty good as a freshman. Too much time in the weight room me thinks. Good hustle though.

Back surgery.

DT misses so many put backs and close in shots, but he is so valuable with his
board battles. Big play not mentioned was his rebound over Bembry with less then 2 minutes
left in game and we ate more time. Terry did not have touch early but he kept attacking.
Felt good for Trey as he had great offensive game yesterday.

But the back surgery has not affected his ability to jump, he probably skys higher than anyone else on the team. Could be, but hard to believe he could not return to his shooting form, unless that form still aggravates the back.

I am not a doctor, basketball coach, or have any expertise in the area, but I would imagine that back surgery would have a bigger impact on his shot than strength training. Strength training is a slow process, so your shot should be able to adjust as your strength slowly changes. Back surgery would have a much larger impact on the mechanics of the shot I would think.
