Another guard/wing. Started his career at UNH and should have 1 year left. Solid numbers at Maine, had 19 against us this year.
This is a prime example of how this board continues with its negativity. We’re discussing a good player thatToo bad no package deal w Maine coach. That would have been my first choice of a transfer from Maine. But I guess Lopez will have to do.
I like his quick release, his catch and shoot, ability to create, only wish his release was higher.I said I wanted a shooter with size. 6'5 with 56 made 3s at 40.3%. Nice! I also like that he was 101-115 at the FT line last year. Not only is the 87.8% impressive, so is the volume. He makes 3s, gets to the line, and makes FTs.
We will see if he can be as productive in the A-10. I guess some on here will say he moved down a level since Maine had a better NET than us last year. Only 1 team in their conference had a higher NET than Maine's 205 NET, but if the guy can play, he can play. The minutes are definitely there for someone his size to grab. I like the addition.

Mooney is bringing into the system, and many of us are pleased. But then there is always one that has to
throw in a negative. It’s a shame that some of us that want to enjoy the good moments aren’t allowed to

From thecan't argue with the stats, but shoots 3's from his chin. little concerned that the move up to the A10 might find him with less space to shoot. but good looking player.
Maine weirdly doesn't list weight on their roster.
from what I seeI like his quick release, his catch and shoot, ability to create, only wish his release was higher.
from what I see in his highlights, his release point in catch and shoot is around him chin, but when he shoots off the dribble it much higher and around his forehead, I don’t think that it will affect him that much. Also worth noting that he played against 3 A10 teams this last season (Us, Fordam, and Duquesne). In these games he scored 19, 24 and 17. I like this addition to the squad. He’s athletic, good shoot the 3 and is an efficient scorer. I assume he starts at the 3, I think this team is better than last years (not saying much), this years team success rides on the redshirt freshmen and the development of players like Tanner and Tyne. We’ll see how it goes this year.can't argue with the stats, but shoots 3's from his chin. little concerned that the move up to the A10 might find him with less space to shoot. but good looking player.

All I can say is that closed mouths doesn’t get fed, keep your negative thoughts and opinions to yourself!!$S

Good moments are in November-March, Annap. Kid looks he could help us. But we finished 258 in the NET last year and we have major roster issues that one pretty good players from Maine is not going to fix. I do think we are better today than yesterday but we have dug ourselves quite a large hole to crawl out of.$S

Will be interesting to see not only who starts, but who doesn't even make the rotation. I don't see enough minutes out there to play more than 4, if even that many, of Lopez, Daughtry, Tanner, AP, McGlothin and Robinson. So, Tyne, Johnston, Lopez, Daughtry and Walz as our starting five?
Yeah, I don't think you bring in a transfer and not have him in the rotation. All of them will play. Will be interesting to see not only who starts, but who doesn't even make the rotation. We brought in GW3 and he wasn't in the rotation. I think Daughtry is all set. Who knows about the other 5 I mentioned? Hopefully, Lopez can have similar success here, but he, Tanner and AP are still question marks. No reason why McGlothin and Robinson can't beat them out if they are good enough, but I do have concerns that they couldn’t beat them out last year. If they can't get minutes this year, their 2nd years in the system, I don't see them ever getting minutes here. Especially when considering we don't have proven, all conference type players in front of them. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Guards seem set with Johnston, Thomas, and Tyne getting time, and Walz and Beagle will obviously get minutes. So, the wing/forward spot is the interesting one.Yeah, I don't think you bring in a transfer and not have him in the rotation. All of them will play.
We have 9 guys in the junior and senior classes. That's what I assume our rotation will be.
Ideally one or two of the youngsters push for time.
I think in general with all the transferring and the expanded rosters you'll see mostly older lineups, fewer freshmen.
Agree. You definitely bring transfers in with the idea they will be rotation guys. But, you said you assume we have our 9 man rotation with the juniors and seniors. So, with all 4 incoming transfers getting minutes this year, what have Tanner and AP done to assume anything with them?anything is possible once they're all in the gym. I'm saying the INTENT is to have all the incoming transfers in the rotation.
and I think the intent last season was to play GW3 too. but then either injury slowed him early or he just didn't earn the time.
They played those minutes because we had no one else. This year, if Robinson and McGlothin can't beat them out or at least play similar minutes in OOC play to see who is better, they need to just transfer. Being buried in the rotation behind Tanner and AP your 2nd year in the system would be very telling. I do think AP showed more than Tanner last year and Tanner needs to improve dramatically IMO to justify any time.someone can beat them out, but underclassmen getting 17 and 26 mpg don't normally drop out of the rotation the next year ... especially by freshmen.
they need to play better but I'm going to assume they're in the rotation.
I'm assuming this is a joke 97?and understand Mooney's complex defensive schemes quickly or not
Yes Defense was an issue but scoring takes a lot of pressure off the other end of the court.VNot just depth. Defense is a major concern for this team, especially at PF and C.
Exactly. We have no idea how good, or if they are inclined to play defense - at any position. So that has to be concern number 1 coming in. We can say we added all this shooting, but we said the same thing last year. At least these guys have done it at a D1 level, so that is hopeful. But we already heard that Johnston may be a defensive liability and we have no idea on other guys. From reading a bit on Daughtry, like his skill set, but sounds like not a real plus athlete or defender possibly too.Not just depth. Defense is a major concern for this team, especially at PF and C.
Sarcasm. That is the knock our constant switching on defense is hard for new players to adapt to. I guess guards aren't used to routinely guarding centers at other places like we do here.I'm assuming this is a joke 97?
I believe Daughtry played some 5 at Indiana State. a little short, but looks plenty strong. With only two centers I am concerned with injury and depth. Soulis would have made that position a lot deeper.
I guess a sensible solution would be to get a couple of 6'7 to 6'9 point guards.Sarcasm. That is the knock our constant switching on defense is hard for new players to adapt to. I guess guards aren't used to routinely guarding centers at other places like we do here.
