ACC - A10 Challenge

Every conference has bottom feeder and depth issues. You just try to schedule those bottom feeders together and you should be fine. You never see Duke playing a bottom feeder in the ACC/Big Ten challenge do you?

And you could do a rotation where maybe its only 4 games a year, so your not bound to play in it each year and if you choose, can still schedule a school from that conference if you wish. In terms of us playing ODU and UNI - ODU has been around on our schedule since CAA days and UNI is brand new on our schedule, so we will see if that continues. Are you going to get a great game from these two conferences - probably not. But you could get a good one. Here is a quick breakdown of the Missouri Valley, AAC, C-USA, and CAA.

MVC - 2 top 50 RPI teams. 1 team 50-100 RPI. 2 teams 100-150 RPI 5 teams 150 + RPI.
AAC - 4 top 50 RPI teams. 2 teams 50-100 RPI. 5 teams 150 + RPI.
C-USA - 1 top 50 RPI team. 2 teams 50-100 RPI. 3 teams 100-150 RPI. 8 teams 150+ RPI.
CAA - 0 top 50 RPI. 2 teams 50-100 RPI. 1 team 100-150 RPI. 7 teams 150 + RPI.

A10 - 3 teams top 50. 5 teams 50-100 RPI. 1 team 100-150 RPI. 5 teams 150 RPI+.

So 4 of our Top 100 teams would catch a 150+ MVC team. 7 of our Top 100 teams would catch a +150 CUSA team. I don't see any value in either.

The AAC would be interesting, but like it said, that conference looks down it's nose at the A10 so it's a moot point.

That is why I would suggest maybe a 4-6 team challenge every year on a rotating basis. Since it is hard to match up team for team in any conference based on numbers - take 5 A10 teams each season and pair them with 5 MVC or CUSA teams each season. Pair a bottom feeder with another bottom feeder. Pair a 150 team with a 150 team. Pair a top team with another potential top team. This way you don't have huge inbalances.

This was never considered to be a "challenge". it was an agreement with the ACC to play a double header each year in Barclays. Nothing else.

R&B, you got that right. I think that our perception of the A10 is much higher than that of those not directly associated with it.

When you look at it that way, you're right.

That said, I believe there is a principle to the matter and there's perception at stake. When you're a conference that constantly fights for respect, TV dollars and NCAA tournament bids, i think principle and perception are pretty important.

Bump.

I don't understand the immediate rush to negativity. I for one am happy and think that it can be the "first steps of a long journey" for the conference.
What, is the ACC supposed to welcome us with open arms? That 's just crazy thinking.
Annap if you don't understand the rush to negativity then you clearly don't read much of this board.
