The website fivethiryeight is simulating potential NCAA Tournament outcomes. They predicted Richmond would be last 4 in, and beat Texas to advance to the round of 64. There, Richmond would be matched up against the 5 seed, Butler.

This would be an interesting game, pitting the Golden brothers against each other. A great storyline. They have Richmond pulling the upset and moving on to the round of 32 to face the 4 seed Maryland.

Speaking of OOC games to investigate next year. Butler vs. Richmond. Golden vs. Golden. Perhaps there is an in there with Butler to make this happen. I could see ESPN wanting to show this game with the little interfamily story line. Make it happen, Mooney.

I agree would be a great game whether its a 1 gme deal, h and h or whatever. That being said, look at this from Butler's shoes.

They are part of the Big East, which will have 20 games next year (when UConn joins). Of those 20, at least 12-14 will be Q1 games-(not counting STJ/Dpaul). Their OOC will include:

Ft. Meyer Classic (3 games), Gavitt games, Big East/Big 12 challenge, annual game vs. Indiana.

That is 6 of 12 non conference games. So that leaves 5 or 6 games.

If you add the 12-14 Q1 games in the BE, plus the Ft. Meyer Classic (2) Gavitt game, Big 12 hallenge and IU, that gives them somewhere between 17-19 Q1 games.

THey will want a few cupcakes on their schedule. Not sure if they would want to play another Q1 game.

Well, for the Golden brothers, they like the hype. Maybe Butler will cater to Bryce as a show of loyalty to him!!!

again, I agree. Unfortunately, Butler doesn't schedule for hype.
Schools schedule all of the time for hype. They travel all over the country in OOC to play in high school gyms, hotel ballrooms and even aircraft carriers. Why to get on TV and get exposure. A Golden vs. Golden, two potential Top 25 teams playing in November-December would get TV interest.

Coaxh Carter, thinking the same thing. The shot we have is not in the logic of scheduling, but in the loyalty of two programs to players.
Its Coach Carter my friend, I have coach scholastic basketball for over 20 years in Richmond, Virginia. While I respect your opinion, I don't have to agree with it. I stand by what I stated. The scheduling of both teams does make sense logically and from a loyalty perspective. Regardless to what we both believe, the final decision is not ours to make lol.
