The second one wound up with a decent look from 3, just from the wrong player (the right one was sitting on the bench).

Just got off the plane from 11 days in Ecuador and the Galapagos. Based on the apparent state of things here, perhaps I should go back off the grid.

Missed the last few games until yesterday. What I find ironic and funny is the coach that usually holds onto timeouts like gold didn't have any left for OT. Just the one allotted. Okay fine Mooney strategically used them all but still. BB mentioned unfortunate Roumo didn't know arrow favored Spiders when calling timeout in OT. Though no blame on him from me.

Yeah we had the ideal schedule to start A10 which is why URI at home was really a required win.

I think we’ll get 1 win of next 4 but unfortunately that feels like the ceiling.

How many of those were bad looks at the basket when the shot clock is at 2 or 1? Way too many times we’re working the shot clock down to nothing and launching bad shots. It’s more deep than just looking at the numbers and blaming the players. It’s a system problem.

This seems like bad timing. Bonnies coming off brutal loss that spikes their NCAA at large. Only hope is that hurts their motivation but probably has reverse effect. One thing we have going for us is that moon and Schmidt are fast friends. And Schmidt owes us one for when Mooney let him practice in our gym for two days and get adjusted to the site lines that one time. So maybe he pulls off the dogs and lets us cover the spread.

He’s a Patriot League or Ivy League coach in the A-10. Leagues where they can keep players for long periods and they can learn his convoluted system. It sort of worked when he was able to get players who were fast learners or stayed for long periods of time. With this new age of the portal players will have difficulty learning his system.

Both probably think great effort keeping it close without DH.

2nd game in a row up at half and we lose. Both GM and RI made halftime adjustments and results realized.

My quick 2 cents

1. Tyne has to be more patient and the ball should be moving, not static. Nescovic also has to set a better screen.

2. B. Artis should not be on floor. 21/17 shooting splits. 28 points, 25 turnovers on the year. The play was a comedy of hot potato.

Honorable mention to Walz for barely contesting the URI game tying layup. When you’re coached softly you play softly.

Bottom line, which mimics the season: poor guard play, poor coaching, terrible defense.

The play should’ve been give the ball to Nescovic to drive towards the basket. To me this makes the most sense for several reasons. We were in double bonus free throws, Nescovic had an excellent game and was doing well driving in the paint and getting to the basket, it would’ve practically forced the refs to call a foul, and if he missed the shot Nescovic was perfect from the free throw line.

There is a first time for everything! You guys need to settle down and listen to the acolytes. They have told you time and time again how good this coach is, AND that the program is on solid ground. They can't be wrong because they keep repeating it

** I haven't watched but 1/2 a game all season because I can't stand it anymore. Since I haven't been watching games, I normally refrain from commenting.

Mooney's coaching incompetence was glaringly obvious in season # 1. The exact same issues were present from the beginning, it hasn't gotten better. One thing that you can look forward to: every once in a while the team will have an outstanding point guard who can get you to the NCAA tournament despite the efforts of the coaching staff.

** UR logic: since your performance is below average, and you are not improving, we will give you another multi-million dollar extension.

Sorry, Mooney's incompetence goaded me into commenting again. Carry on, I'll go back into hibernation now.

When you first addressed by initial post I thought you were posting tongue and cheek. But then I kind of changed to you actually believe what you posted. I could have responded to you with pages on this topic, as Mooney's shortcoming go way beyond his players missing 3 point shots. However, all the responses to you by our fellow posters included my ideas as well as others. These posters are sharp, astute, and observant.

I stand by what I said. "It ends when we have a new coach."

I guess my bigger question is this - Given what we've seen in 20 years of CM (track record, philosophy, strategies), do you think he is the guy to take us to the next level in the next 20 years? I'll go first. What you've seen in 20 will be what you'd see in the next 20. Not good enough. I don't even think he's the guy to take us forward into the next five years. It's way beyond time & overdue to move on with a new coaching staff completely external to UR. We need a fresh approach & new start.

Last night was a shining example of the lack of accountability in the program that is discussed here a lot. Coach could have said, I f’ed up, I’ve got to make sure Dusan is in the game and gets a touch at the end, but instead he’s blaming the refs for not letting him make a sub when you aren’t allowed to sub? Twice?

The end of regulation possession looked like the last regulation possession of the OT A10 tournament game in 2017 against VCU - sub SDJ for Tynne and Nescovic for TJ. The “play” is for a sub 6 foot guard to iso and drive to the basket and don’t ever let your best offensive player in the game touch the ball?! Great strategy
