That space between the Weinstein Center and Pitt Field was scoped out at one time as a potential location of a new pool should one ever come to fruition.
It is roughly 275 feet between the Weinstein Center gym and the edge of the parking lot at Pitt Field, so there's not enough space for a full football field oriented in that direction. If you orient it in the other direction, it'll cover a huge chunk of the lot. Some schools have gotten away with smaller 70–80 yard fields in their practice facilities.
I know it's possible to elevate indoor fields, but it's pretty uncommon, particularly at that size. A lot of these have ceiling heights of 65–80 feet, so putting them on top of anything just pushes a monstrous warehouse-type building even higher.
It's been 13 years since the last campus plan, and the next one is scheduled to be unveiled in the spring, so get your suggestions in before they finalize things!
