I think this game will tell us if the Marist game was more of a brand new teams first time together and things didn't jell OR we have serious roster issues and our preseason rankings from most of the A-10 experts are valid.
I still like our roster, I think we have talent and depth. What I question after Marist is whether or not our genius 56% percenter coach can effectively manage the roster and deploy the talent in rotations that actually work. In Game 1, I didn't see any semblance of a rotation, it was just lets throw guys out there and see what happens type of approach.
Don't think we are going to like the answer to this question.
We look very bad on offense. We have no one who is really looking to create any kind of offense on their own. We talked earlier about not having an alpha and that's true but way worse than that. We really don't have anyone who even attacks once the offense creates advantages that it is designed to. Hunt is a little, but even he is doing it only later in possessions etc. Glou seems willing, but lost. The rest are just running the offense with no particular thought on really being assertive in that offense. Our 3 point shooting is bad, but the opportunities are really bad.
Big problem is really how unathletic we are collectively. King, DJii, Bigs, Harris all well more athletic than anything we have this year, plus quinn was much more athletic and more skilled than our bigs this year. In past we could sometimes get by with unathletic groups, but that was when the unathletic guys were in their 2nd and thirds years in the system and not their 2nd or 3rd month.
