Mens: Richmond @ Bucknell Sat 11/16 noon ESPN+

Well, given we tip off in 15 hours, the fact there are only 4 posts in this thread (now 5!) aptly demonstrates how quickly enthusiasm has been sapped.

Anyway, the Spiders touched down at 4pm. About a 35-minute bus ride from there to campus.

Opening Night Lineup - Just for fun

My two cents... apologies if already mentioned but I'm too grouchy about this teams performance and coaching to read all.
Walz is SO not the answer; Beagle should start it's obvious. We're not getting two bigs on the floor at the same time this year...I've watched enough to know Solis is not a fix for this year either.
Put Neakovich at the 5 and take your chances with Beagle and him facilitating the offense. Walz should be traded for a player to be named later.
With all due respect to my namesake, I agree that Walz has had a miserable last 2 games, but I don't think we should totally give up on him after only 3 games.

The Trump Administration

With you on your first paragraph, but we diverge after that.

Was it not the Biden Admin that leaked the planned Israeli retaliatory targets in Iran? An enormous breach of trust against a US ally. Be hard to top that one.
Trump himself was the biggest leaker during his own prior administration. Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian officials in an Oval Office meeting with them, forcing the CIA to extract a key Moscow source developed over years. On two occasions, Trump revealed classified information on his Twitter feed. In 2017, he revealed a CIA program in Syria, and in August 2019, he posted a classified satellite photo of a site in Iran that revealed U.S. satellite surveillance. In a 2017 phone call, Trump told the Philippines President that the US had positioned 2 nuclear submarines off the coast of North Korea. Only the captains and crews of nuclear submarines are supposed to even know where they are located, but that didn't stop Trump. He likes to be the bigshot but he can't help himself because he has no concept of national security. He was the rogue leaker during his own administration but claims he hates leakers.

Why would our current recruits stay, knowing we are going to the PL?
I think the staff knows more about who may be leaving CAA for the PL.
This is not the end of the story.
I think many of the incoming recruits knew Spiders were going PL when they committed.
Time will tell when portal opens which guy that were on the roster might want to go, but some are close enough to degree they will likely finish their last bit to get Richmond degree. Maybe some will use RS Senior year as many have done to move along.
Hope that is way it goes anyway.

2024 Presidential Election

Thought she was endorsing the candidate freely, not looking for a pay day. Cheapens the endorsement to my mind.

Her production company, Harpo, put the event on which involved considerable expense. Believe without reimbursement of actual expenses could have run afoul of donation limits. Still, not a good look. You in for the candidate or the cash?

On second point, don't want to get into it tonight, but despite raising a billion Harris campaign ended up with a 20 million deficit....which Trump has offered to cover.

We may be dealing with dueling news sources, each with an ax to grind that favors their "team." You are reporting what you have heard as am I. No idea if either is true.

A Richmond offer will remain attractive because of the value of the degree, the beautiful "leafy" campus, excellent facilities, a staff with the proven ability to develop talent, and some graduates who reach the ultimate goal of playing in the NFL.

I don't see recruiting suffering from the league change. Spiders are still selling the same strong product.

The Trump Administration

Wiz, can't quibble with your response.

Did not mean to imply the Admin approved the leak, only that it happened on their watch, therefore they hold some level of responsibility. Was it a vetting problem? Seems to be a recurring problem with Biden Admin, see Laken Riley, et al . Sloppy to no vetting.

Circling back to a comment I believe you made about being a deficit hawk. We are in sync there, Country is committing financial suicide. Unsustainable. No one seems to be willing to address it. The longer we wait, the more the distasteful the medicine.

OOC Grade is in!!! No surprise, it's an F

I completely agree. That’s the part I don’t understand by some comments made. For some, every loss seems to be an opportunity to express how it is representative of UR’s complacency and lack of commitment to basketball. Yet, when we had the best A10 regular season just last year, there’s no acknowledgment of our commitment to basketball and instead the talking points shift to how we didn’t make the NCAAs 10+ years ago, as if that matters much now in 2024.

We can acknowledge these losses are bad and the need for significant improvement this year, while also recognizing that these losses are not reflective of changes to UR’s clear commitment to our basketball program.

we're on season 5 since 2020 and u just responded to that so I don't see much difference how that matters.

my more than 2 cents...I have to go back to the whole reason we moved to A10....NCAAs. that was an institutional goal/expectation. We have 3 possibly for 20 years, 19 with Covid. NCAA is #1 metric by far. I'm sorry i will go back that far because I think we need to accountable to that. same as garbage 9-25 vs, VCU. If vcu blows our doors off it will probably be well vcu is so good this year what can u do. & last year was great, but I've said this many times, u r judged in sports by how u finish primarily, and we fell apart. we get credit for 2022 even tho we underperformed greatly in reg season. we have 1 ncaa in last 13 years unless we go in 2025. I know u don't like me to bring up the "one of the top basektball programs in the nation" thing but does 1 in 13 get you that?

unrelated tangent we're 0-5 in d1 games since we cut down those nets.

Remember Bob Black statement. even he publicly said 1 in 4 ncaa is very reasonable & minimum. Frankly that's conservative but it was coming from a guarded U of R employee. We are 1 for 6 as of now and doesn't look good to improve.

also u have to frame it around the 4 years left on contract, AFTER this season. Why would Mooney's results give him 4 years? It makes sense to virtually nobody except if r close to him personally. 24 year job security, what's the best we can expect based on his history 1 more NCAA to go 4 for 24? worst case is 3 for 24. so that part is frustrating because ppl feel stuck. And I think if u look back we're not good after extensions, we go into drought or down cycle. so perhaps there is a here we go again attitude.

I realize there r redundancies in what I say but that's because I actually care. Also it's not going to stop me for rooting for this team & Mooney to do well. I would love for TJ and Grant and VT4700 and Matt Smith and Ulla's ranch to crush me for doubting.
