Money is coming in on LA tech it appears seeing them a -8 favor now. Waiting to get Spiders +15 and then lay down Ulla's rent.

I dare say the Spids at 3-1 r now decent value on the ML.

La tech beat the Pride of Little Egypt in OT yesterday & now the mini Egyptians r getting smoked by EKU. I have no idea if this means much, if anything.

But I still like the Spids ML & Glou over 1.5 three pointers made. Bang Bang.

Would be interested in knowing the dynamics point if there were to discussions underway to possible drop the redshirts. That potential 5th year of NIL earnings at age 23 for the given athlete family has to be a factor I would think.
this. plus, would we expect AP and Dusan to not get any minutes while one of the freshmen did? Roche seems like he will get all the minutes he can handle at the 3 going forward, but I'm not sure they would get enough time to make things worthwhile. I just don't see that type of mentality from the program leadership, as stated above, for various reasons. It would be a crazy panic-button push for everyone to see.

Can't believe LA Tech is only -6 against us today. Based on everything we've seen thus far, should be closer to 11/12 points. Vegas must know something....

they do. i have it on good authority that Vegas is aware Richmond is bringing 4 total more fans to today's game creating a distinct "neutral" court advantage.

What I don't get is how 6 games into the season we have 3 new starters already. Walz got 7 minutes (0 points) and Tanner got 10 minutes (zero points). All summer we heard Mooney rave about these two and we are still in November and they are both basically out of the rotation and non-factors.

And it was infinitely clear to anyone who has watched Mooney coach for oh the past 20 damn years, that Beagle was the type of big man needed to run Mooney's offense and Walz was not. Abundantly clear for everyone except the architect of that offense himself.

6 games in and this team is not getting any better. The talent is not there and we all know Mooney is not the type of coach who can coach up inferior talent. This is going to be a LONG year. I wonder if Mooney's NIL daddies are gonna be irritated that he spent their money so poorly.
With this team, maybe the thinking was for us to be good, we need Walz and Tanner to play well and be huge pieces, so they started early. Sometimes, it takes seeing guys on the floor in real games for good minutes to realize maybe they aren't who we thought they were. At least changes were made sooner rather than later, but so far, the results still look bad with them not getting good minutes.

It's just a bad looking roster right now. We thought we had depth at guard with maybe 4 quality guards, and Hunt is the only positive there so far, and he is only 3-15 from 3. Tyne is getting over 30 mpg ( I guess because no one else is better?) and is 6-25 from 3 ( 27-103 for his career) with 10 turnovers and only 4 assists. At forward, Tanner has given us nothing, and AP is now 5-30 from 3 this year. Roche needs to always get 30+ mpg, and I would like to see Dusan get more time and AP less, but in college ball, you want your guards carrying you, so until we get better play and shooting from multiple guards, we will continue to struggle.

Serious question: was the team shooting 50% from 3 in preseason the anomaly or the norm? The data says it was the anomaly…I just can’t believe we are this bad at shooting the 3 with a bunch of supposed shooters.
It seemed like 6 players shooting 50% in preseason. Now most of those not playing, shooting 20%, or not shooting at all.

Night and day...

No question we should burn the shirts. Even if the coaches thought we might struggle at times this year, I don't think there is any way they thought we could be this bad. But, we are this bad. So, maybe a redshirt sounded good to them pre season, but after the way we have played the first 6 games, why not give McGlothin and Robinson a shot?

If they look lost out there a few games and can't help us, then fine, go back to the rotation that is struggling so bad right now if you want, but it's time to see what these guys can do.

my guess on the practice quote is that practicing hard = practicing with physicality as preparation. Total guess, I could be wildly wrong, but either way how else could it be? I assume UR practices hard, so what other difference could there be?

and yeah, the panic moves to the lineup following 6 months of player evaluation that led to the starting lineup in the first place is a reflection of talent evaluation. Which may be a problem for this staff in general, in all aspects including evaluating portal and HS players for ability and impact. I'm sure the ever-leafy contingent will use it as evidence of Moon's ability to adapt rather than his inability to understand his own players and rotations. But it's not like many transfer outs are lighting things up at small conf. schools, and a couple seem nailed to the bench at various places.

Frankly, I'm pretty shocked at player development issues. I'll give credit in this regard that over the years guys get better. But as I pointed out in another thread, what is Walz's go to offensive move that would allow him to expand his scoring - the clear aspect of his game that needed improvement from last year? Where is a big man coach to teach him a couple go-to moves in the post?

Tanner I see as jury still out, sample size is tiny, but to go from starter to semi-buried already?

almost 30 minutes for a starter shooting 21% from the field, 20% from 3 and 50% from FT line is wild. Every shot he puts up at present is working against UR winning. Hopefully this will change but season is now 20% in, sample size is growing more accurate by the game.

1000% agree. The freshman need to play. Saving players so they can play for your program for 4 years is an absolute fools errand in the portal world. And also strongly agree that this was a strategic move by Mooney. Mooney knew we were going to suck this year by the time this decision was made, so this is a play to his NIL buddies that he has these super freshman coming to save the day next year just sitting ready to go.

Had he played them this year and they struggle, that exposes Mooney and his wait until next year message. And if their is one thing we should know about Mooney is that he is very crafty in selling the future when the present is bad. Also anyone who would believe this schtick from Mooney at this point really just hasn't been paying attention that past 20 years.

Not giving up quite yet on guys like Neskovic, Glou, even Tanner. But really getting to the point where its not fitting so far.

I am not seeing the value in sitting these guys. To be completely honest, I only see this as more Long Game in the @#%^&&& triumvirate. Mooney sitting down with PQ and Hardt and saying look, the guys we brought in this year are not really working out, that is the hit or miss nature of the portal. We have a tremendous class coming in next year, and when we work in the red shirting freshman we are going to have a super core for four years. Now we might not see much results the next two, but we are building for some big ol runs in years 3 and 4. HE HAS ALREADY said as much in interviews, saying he is going back to building through recruiting.
In reality, this is the new paradigm - at least for the near future. NO reason to believe Mooney is ahead of the curve, because history says he is behind the curve.

In reality, even with this line of faulty thinking, he would be better to work those guys in this year. So far, they can't do much worse, and I think they both could help. I think even 4700 has gone on record to play the freshman. Let's do it. Mooney is trying some IVY league strategy thinking, and I'm sure PQ and his leafy campus commentary, along with 80s and Hardt, is eating it up.

Hopefully the freshman's parents talked to them and are in Moon's office as I type. LET's GO!!!!!!!

Looking for a glimmer of hope here, somebody help me out!
I don't see any. My only hope after the first few games was like guys were still figuring out how to play together. But it seems more likely with each passing game that we just don't have much talent to compete. None of the transfers seem like big impact players (maybe next year) and the two freshman that some of the Moondog supporters said were difference makers are redshirting.
