2024 FCS Preseason Top 25 Hero:Top 25(the analyst)

In addition to taking care of our own business, we are rooting pretty hard for the Bleu Hens to beat Rhody on Saturday, aren't we?
IMO yes and then they need to beat Nova the last week of season.

It makes Spiders auto bid and makes win over Hens look even better in committee's view I would hope.

Spiders move up three spots to #13 in STATS. In addition to Central Arkansas and North Dakota, we also slipped past Tarleton, who fell all the way from #7 to #14 after losing to EKU.

Opening Night Lineup - Just for fun

Hunt
Tyne
Tanner
Soulis
Walz
Know couple month old speculating thread, but surprised not more Mooney loyalty lineups than just this one. Of course not entirely five players like above, but more lineups than with 2/3 players from last season.

Discussion for years of Mooney taking to long to effectively get his system across to of a new set of players. Appears every coach is on equal footing these days in regards to lots of new faces. So that said not being the most pro-Mooney fan, I will give him much praise if he team finishes say 5,6 in conference.

Torvik has 12th, kenpom 11th probably a few under 10th? No Quinn but think Mooney this season has more size, call it PF if you like at his disposal. Also no King but enough three guard rotations that can hopefully shoot the 3. Maybe off base with these two thoughts.

Haven't heard anything about practices but intrigued about what Mooney can/will do having a big size lineup available other than say two less mobile 5s that Quinn and Walz were last year.

Games of interest

Pulling for Delaware, but they have only played one team with a winning record this year, Richmond.

Rhode Island has beaten two teams that are 5-4 I think as their best wins. This game will be interesting.
Delaware beating RI and Nova would make the Spider victory over the Hens a better win, as well as putting the Spiders destiny in Spiders own hands.

Of course, Richmond has only played one team with a winning record, Delaware. Spiders do have hopes to get a quality win at W&M and the Tribes only other loss this season needs to be against Spiders. Tribe plays Elon this week and I do not think an Elon win helps Spiders in strength of schedule regardless.
Wofford immediately folded after beating Spiders and are now 4-5, I think. That is going to end up a bad loss no matter.

Another game of interest this Saturday is Towson vs Hampton. The winner of that game can end up with 7 wins, if the Spiders beat Hampton the next weekend, they can win the last week and be 6-6 with a loss to Towson, same type situation for Towson if they win their last three, they are 7-5 and Hampton would only be 6-6, with the needed loss to Spiders.

Have not taken time to look at records beyond these few, but Spiders need as much help as they can get with strength of schedule if they win out, for seeding reasons.

Edit
I checked Wofford remaining schedule; they can win their last two SoCon games, the loss to FBS South Carolina to end season would make them 6-6 to end season.

Greg Beckwith

Ungerer will indeed be the primary analyst this season.

Marist game will be Bob (TV) and Matt (radio) only on play-by-play with no analyst to honor Beck.
