2024–25 schedule

Don't forget as well - NCAA Is allowing exhibitions for charity this year. So maybe this leads to less scheduling of D2 and D3 schools. Example - Arkansas and coach Cal are playing Kansas as an exhibition on October 25th.

I see this potentially being used by P5 schools as a way to play each other, get a good game, but if they lose - it doesn't count. It gives them a good barometer of what they need to work on instead of playing cupcakes, but no down side if they lose.

2024–25 schedule

Just to highlight how wacky this exhibition game stuff is...

The D-I rules have a floating date for the first allowed game, which is the first Tuesday before the second Friday of November, unless that date is Election Day in which case you can play on Monday. So for this year, it's 11/4. Exhibition games exempted from your max game limit must take place prior this date.

The D-III rules have a fixed date for the first allowed regular-season game, which is November 8, with only exhibitions/scrimmages allowed before that.

Mount Olive is playing UNCW on 11/4 and us on 11/6, which means they are required to be regular-season games for us and UNCW but exhibition games for Mount Olive.

The way the calendar lines up next year, D-I will have 11/11 as the first permissible regular season game date, after the D-III start date, so the way these games have to be counted or scheduled changes.

Lunardi is now giving VCU the auto bid at an 11-seed, and Dayton an at-large as one of the last four in for a First Four 11-seed game. St. Joe's and SLU in the Next Four Out group.

VCU the favorite...again? oops sorry can't go there.

1 mid into bracket, 2 onto the bubble. Granted these things r fluid but I can't help but think someone gave him a little nudge. Like hey not the best look when u have no mids. On selection sunday we can do it, but let's present something else to make them feel better, especially with all the chatter re: power conf teams breaking away.

OR...he saw my post from July 30 above where I pointed out that 36/37 bids going to the p5 along with 7/8 on bubble was pretty absurd.

Football to Patriot League. Should basketball and rest of sports be concerned?

So we watch all this happen because of football and obviously that is the big turd in the fishbowl of college sports. It ruins everything.

But is there a world where the basketball only leagues get shaken by the same fallout? The (potential) Gonzaga move would obviously indicate that yes, money can lure teams anywhere, football or no.

So what is the A10/Richmond to do? Besides sit here and pretend that all is well and that the BE wouldn't immediately take Dayton and St. Louis if they needed 2 teams in a pinch? I really hope everyone at UR is not just sticking their heads into the sand and hoping that anything that shakes out would be after their time.

2024 Richmond Spiders Football - Opponents Countdown - Elon Phoenix

I would wonder if it matters which way to go if DeGennaro is available. Ellis stepped up last game and other receivers got space and had a few drops.
First thoughts are they are better than their record for sure. They had drives versus Western Carolina of 61 yards that ended in an INT at the WCU 3 yard line and another of 76 yards that ended with a fumble at the WCU 14. That said they lost by 7 and Western Carolina is a good team.

Spiders need a really sound game to beat this team.
I agree that their 1-3 record is extremely misleading given their difficult OOC.I think we in for a very difficult game.

Will it be Coleman or Wickersham at QB?

Do we wanna run or pass as our primary mode of offense.

Where are Elon’s defensive weaknesses,if there are any. That might dictate who we start,

Death blow to the WCC.

A10 better be proactive about finding great teams to add and seriously consider jettisoning others, or else there will be a break here at some point as well.

Do I trust Hardt to be in the know and proactive about positioning UR? Ummmm.
Hardt has it covered - move to the Patriot League.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see teams from FCS conferences MVFC and/or Big Sky like North Dakota State, South Dakota State, Montana, Montana State join the MWC
I'd think the $5 million transition fee is a big challenge for those schools not named NDSU.

Follow the money. No reason for GU to stay in the WCC if they are a full Pac-12 member. Higher rights fees, more potential in basketball units by the conference with SDSU, Boise, USU and CSU. I did some math and the "new" Pac-12 (including Gonzaga) would have earned 13 credits last year. That's $4.27 million per year for six years ($25+ million). No way does the WCC come close to matching that.

If Gonzaga joins, the Pac just kneecapped both of its top competitors on the West Coast by taking the cream of both conferences in football and basketball.
