Secret Scrimmage vs. ODU: 94-79 W

I think practices more than scrimmages are where the rotation is formed.
while Tanner certainly played well in the scrimmages, Mooney's been talking him up since way before that. enough so that he started in both scrimmages.
it's not like years ago when teams just did skill work in the summer, and the 1st team practice was in October. these guys have been grinding since probably June. that's a lot of time to determine the rotation.

We didn’t get a who is “running with the 1s” update this summer!

X Factors

there was a Soulis IG video posted last week where he ran through a day in the life of what it's like for him at UR as a student athlete. Looked like he's getting treatment and lifting weights. There were a couple clips of hoops practice but the only clip that showed him in action in a team setting also has Jordan King in it (#2 with back to camera) so it appears they lifted at least that clip from last year. So my guess is I don't think he's in contact drills or team scrimmages at practice by this update.

@spidermbb is the account on IG, it's currently the 2nd post on there from the top.

X Factors

To revisit this:

My number one X factors Robinson / Soulis - Nonexistent so far in two scrimmages. Anyone know anything about Soulis injury. Did he play in either scrimmage in the 5th quarter? Assuming he is still on the shelf, but no idea.
in that 3 Bid League podcast, Dr John Giannini said Soulis hasn't been healthy. and that more than anything would be why Walz and Beagle might not play together. said they want to and it can work, but with Soulis out we really can't as there's no backup then.

Assuming he is still on the shelf, but no idea. Still hopeful to see some of Robinson this year, it's a busy spot to break into - whether wing or Bigs Forward - but again feel like he could bring some elements the other guys do not.

Number 2 x factor was Glou. Excellent offensive production so far. If he can shoot it anywhere near what he has in the scrimmages should be a big player. Question: What position does he guard best - wing forward or Bigs forward?
Number 3 - Tanner. Very similar to Glou in excellent offensive production. I think the fact that he started both scrimmages indicates he is in for a big role. Now watch some tape of Dji playing D and bring that to the table and it will be a very nice good indicator for Spiders success.
Number 4 - Graham - got some burn.

One of my assumptions was 4 back court guys vying for big minutes. So far no B. Artis due to injury. Very curious as to his role once healthy. GW3 is a bit of a mystery. Did not get huge minutes in the scrimmages, but still a lot of upside. Tyne and Hunt doing as expected. Really excited about Tyne if he can shoot it well. As well as they move their feet - if we do have to zone to cover other defensive liabilities - could be a problem with bothering shooters.
Center Position - Going as expected or better. I do expect the Walz/Beagle combo to put up more numbers and be more effective than the Quinn/Walz combo.

Right - we are not at practice, don't see the fit of how guys play in all aspects of the game. It's possible AP duplicates some skills (or deficiencies) of one or the other of Tanner/Dusan, where Moon wouldn't want both of them starting together. It's also possible that Tanner is playing really well in practice and scrimmages and is just winning the job by being a good player. Dusan comes with a track record of being able to score, which is something UR needs with all the question marks, so that alone is something that gives him an edge IMO.

Either way, I expect a lot of time for AP and hope he delivers. He can become a fan favorite I think.
