2024 Presidential Election

He will own every problem.
He has to fix every problem created by Biden and Harris. That is a tall order, but a lot of it is easy.

Immigration- shut down the border with Mexico, until Mexico fixes the issue, build the wall, remove illegal criminals from our streets- send the illegals back to Mexico while their cases are resolved.
Inflation- drive down the cost of transporting goods throughout the US, cut regulations, increase domestic production of gas and oil, eliminate the war on fossil fuels, remove the moratorium on construction of LNG terminals on the East Coast, increase sales of LNG to Europe, etc.
Inflation- cut wasteful government spending. Institute all cost cutting moves supported by the Musk Commission. Eliminate all mandates for EVs, Modify the Administrative Procedures Act to make it easier to use to lower regulations placed on the country.
Iran- Reinstitute all sanctions on Iran. Destroy Iran's ability to sell oil on the open market. Shut down Iran's economy. Drive down the price of oil.
Russia- Drive down the price of oil, heavily enforce all sanctions on Russia, sanction all sales of gas and oil from Russia to Europe and India, etc.
China- eliminate all mandates for EVs, eliminate all tax credits for EVs, institute tariffs on Chinese goods, force China to stop supplying Russia. Force China to shut down its massive EV plant in Mexico.
Climate Change- support an all of the above policy for the development of new sources of low CO2 emissions for electricity. Sanction Chinese goods that come from dirty fossil fuel production.

I get what you are saying, but what I worry about is a year without playing gives these guys a lot of time to wonder what elsewhere might look like. Let's say they each only play 5 games this year. Well, maybe they have a game where they score 4 or 5 points, make a 3, or get a dunk. Now, they are waking up with more energy, and going to class the next day feeling much better about things here. At practice the next day, they would actually have a play they made to talk about with their teammates instead of being a forgotten redshirt. I realize everything might be just fine right now, and they could both be 100% good with redshirting right now, but things change. With the transfer rules, I think you have to worry about that when talking redshirting. A year is a long way away, and I don't want to lose these guys.

predictions:
everybody healthy scores including K Mooney.
Beagle double-double in less than 20 minutes.
17 3 pointers.
Robinson with a monster dunk.
D'Entremont in double figures.
o-fer.
13 guys did score. only D'Entremont didn't. and K Mooney didn't get in. maybe not healthy?
close with Beagle (11, 9) in 17 mins.
way off on 3's.
no idea how UNCW put up 143. that's a crazy number and 42 points more than us. Mt Olive pushed tempo, but their half court defense looked pretty good. they're quick.

Mens: Mt Olive Game Thread @ RC : Wed 11/6: 7pm ESPN+

biggest takeaways for me were

that Nescovic is the real deal, loved his offensive game and desire to get to the rim if offered.
the bigs are physical and will likely rotation based on who is playing well. Beagle has a nose for the ball and to score.
Tanner's 3 ball looks smooth, he and Nescovic hittting it consistently is something needed from starting 5.
Roche and AP need to hit 3s off the bench
The quote from Gipe that B. Artis is quicker than Tyne makes me thing Gipe doesn't watch basketball.
Early lineups looked pretty disjointed.

Mens: Mt Olive Game Thread @ RC : Wed 11/6: 7pm ESPN+

Walz was a beast, love Beagle's game, and if Soulis stays healthy we're loaded at the 5.
will have to play 2 together some since 40 minutes isn't enough for those 3 to share.

think that may have contributed to the decision to redshirt Robinson and McGlothin. that and how good Dusan and Tanner look. there's just not substantial time available at forward with Roche and AP also there.

will have to watch GW3 more next game. he didn't look as quick as I expected. nice finish at the rim though. it's early but I think he'll be 4th guard behind B Artis if BA is ok. that knee contraption is crazy for a basketball player.

overall liked what I saw. our starting 5 should be very good, and we're deep.

2024 Presidential Election

What a contrast between Harris and Trump after losing an election. Harris, and also Biden, called Trump and congratulated him on his win. After all he has said and lied so much about the two of them, that had to be extremely difficult. And Harris gave a concession speech. Harris called for the peaceful transition of power, no allegations of voter fraud, no looking for every way to void an election, no calls for violence. And Biden's team will cooperate with the transition, although Trump's team probably doesn't care about that. Harris and Biden care about our country, Trump does not. He only cares about himself. Looks like he will have the House in addition to the Senate, and has the Supreme Court in his back pocket. He can do whatever he wants to with no one willing to challenge him. Heaven help us.

I think our depth chart is as balanced as it ever has been. These frosh are
very talented but getting adequate playing time may be difficult. You want
to recruit the best players you can regardless their years remaining. You roll
the dice and and hold your breath. If the frosh are so outstanding in practice,
then you want them playing. Hopefully works out like Trey Davis’s first year when
he and three other talented frosh were redshirted and all but one stayed four years.
Trey and others would have had to sit out a year had they transferred. Big difference now when you can see an opening on a team and transfer right away. Look at Tyler and Dji. Let's say they were redshirted instead of covid. If you play well, there will be transfer possibilities your 5th year. If Bryson and Jaylen play well for us, they will be very attractive as 5th year guys to power schools. I think the risk of guys getting impatient and leaving soon after their redshirt year is too great to hope you have a guy stay all 5 years.

I too am not a huge fan of the redshirt but I don’t think the “won’t stick around for 5” rationale has much to do with it. Look at all the 5th year guys we’ve had here. I can only think of 4 guys who were heavy rotation guys leaving for their fifth year during the CM era.

Bigger concern is you have someone promising who is impatient. I think they might be more impatient if they don’t redshirt and still don’t play.
Who are all the redshirt 5th year guys we have had here? Seems like all of our
redshirts the past several years are elsewhere now. My comment about a 5th year is related to the rules now, which makes transferring so easy, so redshirting several years ago would be completely different than redshirting now.

Missed this news yesterday though I know sec9 alluded to it in a response. I'm with 4700 here, don't see much upside to redshirting in this environment. Have always felt that it mentally de-emphasizes development by knowing not going to play. And like gkiller notes, it basically indicates we didn't get a freshman stud. Not to bang on Graham, but he is getting a ton of minutes as a true guard and seemed in over his head vs pressure from a d2 back court. Would rather see McGlothin get those minutes and be up to speed for later in the year potentially.
Worried about B Artis ... hoping we hear today that him not playing the 2nd half was just a precaution . not sure

Definitely looked rust vs the press. Not sure the infatuation with Graham's minutes so far, but he definitely needs to be off the ball. Super shaky on the dribble. Hopefully GW3 will be a player for us. B. Artis seems to be injury prone based on his history and so far with Spiders. Suddenly not so sure about our back court depth.
Yes monster stat line from the collective center position. Neskovic as expected and advertised. Tanner looks pretty good on one side of the ball but a far cry from Bigs or Dji on defense.
I believe both Beagle and Soulis can move their feet pretty well. Would like to see some line ups with either at forward.

Mens: Mt Olive Game Thread @ RC : Wed 11/6: 7pm ESPN+

I was out for the first half and then had some trouble getting ESPN+ to work for some reason, so I only got to watch the last ~10 minutes. Looked like Mount Olive gave us some decent experience working against the press. They had some athletes, but we also had a few sloppy turnovers.

The stat sheet on our three-headed monster at the 5 was incredible...12-for-12 from the field, 28 points, 27 boards, 6 assists, and a couple of blocks.

Looked like Hunt had a pretty solid game, and Tanner hitting as well. Really hoping to see Tyne start to hit shots, but unfortunately not seeing it yet. Also, very few assists from the 1 and 2 spots...was that a product of tempo and using bigger guys to break the press, or what?

Will watch the whole game in a bit here, but probably not a ton to take away from a game at this level of competition, but great to get the real-game experience for this group of guys.
The 5 is going to be interesting this year. I think Beagle is the better passer and has a soft touch at the rim, but Walz is more physical. They both look like A10 starters to me. My prediction of Walz leading the team in double-doubles this year is so far correct.
