VCU is 12-15 overall and 6-9 in the A10. We beat then 75-42 back at Robins in mid January.

Lady Spiders cruise after a few closer games than expected. Spiders 75 - Ewes 48.

ticket office is open before game, get there 15 mins early should be okay.

VCU giving the Spiders all they can handle so far, all tied up at 28 midway through the second.

Spiders shooting well overall, but not doing much from outside. VCU is hitting some threes and racking up the offensive rebounds. Spiders getting some steals to offset and taking care of the ball themselves, but need to clean up the defensive glass and get the deep ball going more.

Nice stretch there, Spiders with good ball movement and cutting to get three straight buckets while forcing a shot violation and a travel late in the shot clock at the other end. VCU takes a timeout with the Spiders up 34–28.

8 threes for VCU in the first half, which is why the Spiders are only up 1 despite shooting 60%.

Turnovers starting to even out...Spiders need to make better decisions with the ball. 43–41 UR midway through the third.

Too close for comfort - VCU playing with no fear and nothing to lose
Overcommitting on defense and leading to easy layups we’ll be fine. I wish our mens team would play this hard when overmatched, but we should cruise here. Maggie is carving them up.

Spiders opened up a 9-point lead but missed a few threes that would have pushed it to double digits. 50–43 through three quarters. Doogan has 25.

I remember when some were critical of what they thought was a "legacy" hire by Hardt, that clearly there were better options than Roussell but Hardt was too lazy to look and didn't do his homework.

It's worked out well, I think.

Maggie was absolutely spectacular again today. Total superstar. Clear A-10 POY.
Roussell COY... Sweeney most improved..... and Ullstrom First team. Katie and Addie are tremendous and obviously don't deserve to be left out of any conversation..... and thrilled that Jimenez looks like she can play through whatever injury she's clearly carrying. Whatever happens in the St Joes game.... can't wait to watch them in both tournaments moving forward. Congrats to the staff and players.

It's an absolute pleasure to watch them play every single game knowing how hard they compete and that there's a clear plan against every opponent.

I decided to take a look at the thread concerning Roussell's hire based on Wood's comments. His memory is spot on. The thread contains a video from right after Roussell's hire that I enjoyed watching again.

Right on Wood. Let’s see him do it again with the men’s hire!

Never watched that before as I will admit I didn’t pay any attention to Women’s hoops until a couple of years ago. One thing that is obvious is Roussell always had a plan and he has delivered. Hopefully UR can keep him around for awhile longer.

Congrats to the Lady Spiders and the coaching staff for a stepping stone achievement. Hoping to see even greater ones next month.

Go Spiders!

5 years ago, if someone would have said our women's program would be staring down 2 straight A-10 championships and NCAA bids they would have been laughed at. This was a program stuck in neutral, no one attended the games except families, little investment. Just a fantastic job by Roussell.

And to think, we give Mooney probably triple the salary of Roussel, almost all of our NIL $$$, I'm sure all of his assistances are paid way more as well and it just gets sucks into his big pit of mediocrity.

The best part is that next year we might be even better! Doogan, Ullstrom, and Sweeney returning as starters and you know a couple bench/freshman/transfer players are going to step up too.

Roussell isn’t just doing a great job building a team, but building a program with sustained excellence. He and the staff deserve a significant pay raise. I also hope that us opting in the NCAA house settlement means we will also provide NIL support to the women’s team.

I agree with all of this 100%. I just didn't want to say it... cause there's always the elephant in the room when you have this level of success. I will say what I said before.... we're built to be good for a long time, please buy him a shit ton of land somewhere and don't let him and Studer end up back in the Big Ten... or anywhere else for that matter.

Our athletics as a whole has improved under Hardt’s leadership. I get that we primarily discuss men’s basketball here, and while our flagship sport, there are still 18 other Varsity sports we have to think about.

We have 6 teams that were voted to finish first/tied for first in the A10 in preseason polls:
- Women’s basketball
- Men’s lacrosse
- Women’s lacrosse
- Men’s golf
- Women’s golf
- Baseball

We have had 5 teams voted to be top 3 in the sport preseason poll
- Men’s football (2nd)
- Women’s tennis (2nd)
- Men’s tennis (3rd)
- Women’s swimming and diving (2nd)
- Women’s cross country (2nd)

* honorary mention of field hockey picked 4th in preseason poll and having 10+ wins for the first time since 2019

So far we have won 2 trophies: CAA football conference championship, A10 WBB regular season championship. Women’s swim and dive finished runner-up.

This is coming off of last season where 10 out of 19 sports finished 1st/2nd in either regular season/conference tournament and we won 5 trophies (football, men’s basketball regular season, women’s basketball regular season & tournament, women’s lacrosse tournament). Not to mention our graduation rate and team GPA’s have never been higher and garnered national attention or the facility upgrades we’ve had like the basketball practice center.

Hardt is doing an excellent job overall.
