Womens - @Loyola - Thursday 1/23 7pm ESPN+

Loyola caused some early difficulties for the Spiders by getting into passing lanes and breaking up the offensive flow, but the Spiders got it together and are up 23–8 after one.

Spiders shooting 75% overall and 50% from deep. Sweeney went out early with a bloody nose, then came back late in the quarter and drained consecutive threes, and then Budnik hit one just before the buzzer to really bust things open.

Loyola turning up the pressure and we’re turning the ball over like crazy…12 already. Roussell has acknowledged our style of play leads to more turnovers, but there’s still too much sloppiness. Loyola does have 10 turnovers of their own.

43–24 Spiders at the half.

Turnovers are the big weakness it seems.

The team makes up for it with good defense, and just generating great opportunities on offense and making shots.

Pretty crazy we have 3 players who are making more than 1.5 made 3s per game AND shooting over 43% from 3. Really an insane stat.

Sometimes we just seem to lose interest and not play as hard as the other team. Other times we look unbeatable.

85–45 Spider victory. Another great job beating the snot out of a poorly rated opponent. Just gotta keep doing that for the NET.

TOs got to be near 10 vs 20. That was 9 scoring opportunities we missed on
St jJoes would have beaten us tonight.

With the Spiders shooting 58.6% from deep tonight and Notre Dame only shooting 38.9% in their win over BC tonight, the Spiders have taken over the top spot in the country for 3FG% at 41.29% vs 41.16% for the Irish. Unless Stanford sneaks ahead of us by doing something ridiculous like shooting 75% on 25+ attempts in their game against Cal that's about to tip off.

And with tonight's 61.5% shooting night overall, the Spiders have squeaked past Kansas State to move up to second in the country in FG% at 50.85%, only trailing UConn at 51.77%.
