Listened to Big Al this morning, Matt Denardo said game would be cancelled if the Gov declared a state of emergency due the weather forecast. If I heard correctly the Gov declared this afternoon. Any news?

some modeling has it going more east so the game will be fine. this does get the weather channel all excited, am sure cantori has his rain and wind gear ready and is headed for a beach somewhere. if it does go east, another blow for those folks. really hope it spares you guys and cantori can stay home.

Rain intensity during game is forecasted to diminish. It's the WIND as Danny points out that affects the game.Wind expected to be 15-20 mph out of NNE.

Who is Big Al?Al Roker?

If the game is on,Maine will likely travel sometime tomorrow not Friday.

Who is Big Al? Unfortunately the only sports talk program for Richmond radio morning listeners. Obviously you are not in radio range?

you can listen to him on the internet also --- also pod casts of visitors so you can go back and listen to the coaches 950am

I suppose I could have phrased my question better, I'll try again. If the Gov declares a state of emergency will the game be cancelled. From my understanding the Gov did so yesterday afternoon.

I have not heard the two tied together, perhaps someone else has. If it is cancelled it will not be made up. The general rule is if the visitor can make it to the venue the game will be played.

Same as I thought, if the visitors and officials can be available the game is played. The hurricane was and will continue to not have any impact on the game, it is this northeast weather system that will create a mess. Hopefully it will move through faster than predicted.

Don't know how you can say that a Catagory 3 or even a cat2 hurricane that goes up the Chesapeake Bay will not impact the Richmond area. If it remains intact and increases in size and intensity as predicted it will definitely be a major weather event in our area. I hope the predictions are way off.

All the CAA games scheduled this Saturday are likely to be affected by either the stalled rain front over the Commonwealth or nor'easter winds and rain from the approaching TS/Hurricane.

SBU at JMU

Albany at Holy Cross

Maine at UR

Elon at UNH

URI at Brown

WM at UD

I could see the WM v UD game being the most affected which is scheduled for 7:30pm kickoff.

I received an email from the athletic department a few minutes ago (12:06 pm today, Thurs., Oct. 1st) indicating that very few tickets remain available and that "conditions [are] predicted to be more favorable than anticipated."

certainly hope so but how does anyone, at this point, really know what is going to happen? could be a cat 3 up the bay, could be over bermuda tomorrow, just all guesses at this point. like many of you, been through this many times before, some before computers and the weather channel when you had maybe hours warning to now where they scare the heck out of you for a week. just have some water, spam, hate that crap, and some bourbon on hand and hunker down and hope for the best.

I agree with you except for the bourbon....scotch will be my drink.

Based on yesterday's forecast I don't believe the Richmond area would feel the effect of the hurricane at the current pace until sometime Sunday. It appears now that most models are shifting the path further east. Hopefully the current Nor'easter will move on by game time.

I don't listen any more but I will give Big Al credit he was the first guy to host a local sports talk show a decade or so ago.

Latest prediction is 70% sure that the U.S. Mainland will not take a direct hit. A week ago they were 100% sure this storm would fizzle out in the ocean. All guesses and no one really knows.
I'm gonna tie everything down and head for Robins Stadium.....bring it on.

I will be at Robins Stadium, but curious, which team is helped by bad weather in Board opinion?

As I recall we went on to win the following day....something like 26 - 0

just read the latest report and it seem bermuda has a better chance to be hit than the us coast but we all know that these things change all the time so keep that bourbon/scotch on the table. however, what is the deal with all this rain you guys have been having, where did that system come from and when is it leaving? the poor bahamas are being whacked and that is a shame, hope they are hunkering down there and have plenty of adult beverages available. also have to feel for cantori who has to remain in street clothes for this one.

Rain or no Maine has always been a team that scares me. They always play as if they have nothing to loose. On the flip side beating them always put us on a roll. Here is hoping the later happens.
