What to look for

Alright, first game in 5 days what are we looking for. Traditionally we have stunk in opening games so I hope this trend can end. I would love to see a blowout where we can see what our bench is made of. Would love to see some time near the end of the game where we have all 3 freshmen in. Unfortunately we don't get to see any of crabtree.

Antoine Davis from Detroit Mercy can score at will. Due to this, the rest of the team suffers as he rarely looks to give the ball up. I want to see our defense limit him. I know that it is only Detroit Mercy, but like you said, we have stunk in opening games. We almost gave up 100 to St. Francis PA last season and had to win in OT. Beat Detroit Mercy by 20+, beat Morehead by just about the same margin, and put up a damn good fight against Kentucky and see what happens.

First time in a while we've opened the season away from home. (First time in this group's career, if I'm not mistaken). Maybe that shakes things up as far as the opening game tightness.

I'm cautiously optimistic. I think the guys want to pick up where they left off 8 months ago. Unfinished business.

Looks like it's the first time we've opened the season away from home since 2007, when we played Maine in Memphis and won an ugly 44-42 game before falling to #3 Memphis the following day.

Detroit is decent. They have some players. Of course we're favorites and should win. But it wouldn't shock me to be closer than expected esp after such a long wait. Morehead we should kill.

I expect us to win all three games. If we have any dreams of being this year's Dayton, that's a must. Kentucky will be difficult, but they are super young (shocker) and haven't played together for five minutes, much less 4-5 years like our guys have.

Apparently UK is letting 3,000 people into the arena for these games.

With the experience our guys have we should be able to start strong -- I hope the rust is off and our guys will live up to the hype

It definitely isn't a level playing field when some teams can have 3,500 screaming fans at home, and some can have 0. Does anyone know if they have to allot any tickets to visiting teams (fans not family's)?
