VCU vs Richmond history

Looking at the schedule from the beginning of the season, I kind of figured that if we go 4-4 against SBU, VCU, SLU, Dayton and Rhody, and then win our other games (9-1 at worst), we'll be in good shape.

I still think that holds true.

Good shape? I don’t. That puts us at 8 losses if we don’t win auto. We’d be out.

That would be max 8 losses...our Bona loss is counted in that 4-4 figure. WVU, Hofstra, 4 losses against the top tier, 1 against everybody else, and 1 in the A-10 tourney.

I still would not feel confident with that.

u r too fast SF. I just realized 8 not 9 and corrected it. But yes same deal. Also bc it adds another bad loss & Hofstra is looking even worse now & relying on KY & Loyola to really help us which is still skeptical.

If the other A-10 loss managed to still be a Q2 game (which looks like it would have to be either @ UMass or @ Dayton unless somebody else really comes on), it wouldn't be too bad. But of course, any loss is a bad loss when you're playing in a short season and don't have much wiggle room.

It's hard to know for sure right now, but I think this year, conference standings might be more important than conference record. I agree 13-5 might not be enough, and I would not feel confident either, but if it puts us at 1st or 2nd in the A-10, our chances would improve considerably. With teams playing an uneven amount of OOC games, and some teams playing very few, I think the committee might focus on conference standings a lot more than normal this year. But, to feel pretty good, I would like to get to 14-4, and 1st or 2nd in the conference.

I think 5-3 would be so much better, and is likely what we would need. Not only would this probably give us another quality win, but it would go a long way toward getting us in the top two of the standings by likely putting us ahead of most, if not all of the teams mentioned.

Anyone have our record ATS against VCU the past 10 years? I want to say we cover most of the time but that could be my revisionist memory

I'm trying to find that info - unsuccessful so far. If only I knew someone who was big into sports betting. :)

However, we're 6-14 straight up over the past 10 years. 9 of those 14 losses were by double digits. I doubt the spread has been double digits in many of our VCU games.

So, it's probably your revisionist memory, but I'll keep digging.
