It’s just embarrassing. What else can be said.
Annap We agreeIt’s just embarrassing. What else can be said.
Was driving up to Blacksburg after work tonight to go to the Tech UNC game tomorrow. Checked the score and saw it tied at half time. Checked it again and saw we were down 72-49. Maaaaaaaaaannnnnnnn we suck. It’s just embarrassing. What else can be said.
Wasn’t there a song called In The Year 2525? There’s your answer. So the best, most experienced class ever just got waxed (again) by a young injured team that is doing nothing but getting better in the future. When will we realistically be able to expect to defeat them again?
How long until UR starts limiting who can reply to their tweets? The replies are embarrassing.
And to think, we believed we might have actually had a chance there last night only to get nuked from orbit. That is what makes it sting even worse.I am still feeling vibrations from the colossal thrashing Richmond received last night.
Not sure about all this. I think the VDU staff and fans love things exactly as they are.I respect Mike Rhoades and his team for orchestrating that beautiful display of full-blown exposure. It looked like Mooney was shocked at their collective unrelenting aggression, as if it went against a certain professional code of conduct he abides by: a kind of brotherhood mentality, which was broken that night between the two camps (at least to Mooney’s mind). I believe Mike Rhoades and the VCU collective honestly want a more competitive rivalry. It’s no fun and does nothing to prepare them for the NcAA tourney each year. Rhoades and VCU, I believe, are actually on our side on this one, even if they don’t initially realize it. It was for the greater good.
I’m staying out of the coaching talk…for obvious reasons. No one read into that either way bc I sincerely mean it. I get where a lot of you are coming from. I think loyalty is that double edged sword but we are by nature extremely loyal as a family. Is there frustration and disappointment…yes. But I hear you 23 and from a personal standpoint I don’t believe in cutting and running at adversity(& taught Dji the same) which so many do in todays game..see portal. I truly believe and talk to Dji daily about believing in why God placed him here. I believe he can achieve all of his goals here. We would support any decision Dji made but he hasn’t been mistreated, he’s at a top academic institution(which is ultimately why he’s here) yes he’s had to sit more than we like but that’s fuel to his fire. People on here can laugh, shrug it off, think I may be delusional & it won’t be the first 😂 but Dji has the tools to make it professionally, he just needs the opportunity. He can do that here at UR bc that’s on him not solely on a coach. Sure a coach helps but it’s on the player. I would have liked to see more of our younger guys this season but it is what it is. For me next season can’t get here fast enough bc I think Dji will have his opportunity…sure COVID hit, your coach was fired, you decommited from a place you loved, there were other bigger schools you could have chose but you chose UR bc you loved it...so we are going to be patient and see what God manifests. We have had a string of bad luck this season with the injury bug but again we feel like we are in the right place, i have enjoyed meeting UR fans and making new friends 🕷🏀I noticed that too, haha. We are becoming enveloped in the Mooney non compete cocoon. If we don't have a thread on the game they can't hurt us right.
Spider dad, hope you are trying to keep Dji away from this quick sand. I know you are hoping that the loyalty factor will be applied next year, but for Dji's best interest if moon is back you would be well served to take your talents elsewhere
SpiderDad, you are a class act. Happy to have the Bailey family at UR.I’m staying out of the coaching talk…for obvious reasons. No one read into that either way bc I sincerely mean it. They will come in handy in a later game.finished the first half with all of our TOs
It’s also bad advice to make his choice based solely on basketball. I hope Dji plays professionally one day but it’s certainly not a guarantee.Appreciate the kind words guys🙏🏼🙏🏼 Sometimes I let the frustrations boil over but we are all human and it happens. I enjoy this board for the most part 😀 bc it’s a great spot to talk 🕷🏀 and vent 😀

As a college basketball fan I really enjoyed it. Didn’t have any run ins or bad encounters with their fans. Their band, dance team, student section was really good and constantly had something going. Now VCUs play made it obviously rowdy & even more exciting. There were a few slick remarks from the students but nothing too out of pocket. There wasn’t many of us there for sure. The interactions between timeouts was cool. I would say overall I liked the basketball vibe I just wished we could have shut them up bc there is nothing better than doing that your rival and seeing those sad expressions in their own place. Here’s to seeing that before Dji graduates ✊🏼🕷🏀I asked you this after our first round with VCU at our house what your thoughts were on things as a newcomer to the SpiderHood. What were your thoughts on the rivalry and their fanbase after round two? Did you have any run-ins with their fans? I didn't see nearly as many of us there as I thought there would be, which in the end turned out to be for the best I suppose.
The 6'10" guy is farthest away.
This sequence summed up the game, the season, and the decade for me. Nate gets an inside pass, tries to create, throws up a desperate shot, and meanwhile all four of his teammates watch from outside the arc.
No one cut to the basket despite ample space. No one went to the rim when it was clear his shot would miss. Guys just stand around and hope. Hope something good happens. Hope that someone else is going to help out.
Seriously?
Keep dreaming. There are legions who would like to see that come true. But there has been no indication anyone in a position to make that happen cares enough. Another loss - thrashing this time by VCU - is taken in stride and considered routine.I was flabbergasted to wake up this morning and not see a press release that Chris Mooney was relieved of his duties. Makes me feel like this is some type of sick joke
he did have the stones to actually pull the trigger on some wide open threes finally, too bad he missed them both. The 6'10" guy is farthest away.
I highly doubt there’s an assistant simmering in the background thinking “if we only did it my way.”I would love to see one of the assistance take over and finish the season. Might fire up the team
He would be the only one to bring something different I suspect. But we’re talking four games, plus 1 maybe 2 conf tournament games.FWIW, MoJo has done it before with reasonable short-term results. Realize circumstances are different.
The word you’re looking for is “unacceptable”.It’s unethical to get humiliated by your rival on national tv.
