UR vs George Mason In-game

I think this is 5 straight losses in Fairfax. For a program that seeks national prominence, that's not promising. Look at the number of travel calls tonight, and you will see why we are not there, yet. GMU has a big guy, that we had no answer for. But, if it weren't for bad decisions and travelling, we would have won another road game.

Good luck, they are more concerned about the well being of our international students. Athletics are for brutes, except polo and quiddich.

We've been a competitive team throughout CM's tenure. That's not easy in this conference. Plenty of other coaches, have faltered. This year, we've been so close in so many games, and still lost. I think some of that is on the players, and some of it, is on the coach.

32counter

We could lose to St Gertrude's at their gym.We stink.

32 it would be a tight game but the lady Gators would out rebound us by 20 and beat us by 3.

Fair enough, TB. Thanks for your response. My moronic thought is that being competitive just doesn't cut it. We have all the ingredients to win and make a splash in post season play. We have a great university, a terrific facility and we participate in a quality conference. We should be more than just competitive. And since there has only been one Kevin Anderson in 10 years, this moron doesn't see things getting any better any time soon. Hope I am proved wrong though.

At this point, we are the only positive thing Paul Hewitt can list on his resume when he sits down with their AD to be fired in March.

"But I own the Spiders, doesn't that count for something?"

"No. That's not really much of an accomplishment. You're fired anyway."

Empty possessions, TOs and not playing as a TEAM bites us as usual on the road. Rather than feeding the "warm" hands (definitely no one was really hot) and using our big men to get a call, if needed, we let guys play 1-on-1 and expect a foul call in someone else's house. A fool's errand. But all this shows that making up those double digit points Zo was giving us and having someone inside who might go after a rebound is hard to replace. Good to see Josh have a good shooting night. Hope his confidence is growing because he's definitely part of the future.

Let's face it: We would have found a way to lose this game with Alonzo, probably in very similar fashion. JJ scored 12 points tonight, which is about what Zo scores on a good night. We regress to the mean regardless of the situation, the opponent or the players on the court for us at any given time. None of that affects the ultimate outcome. We lost a ton of these games with Zo, we can lose them without him.

JJ better start the next game is all I have to say! And why the hell wasn't he playing a bunch of TD and DT's minutes before now anyway?

Cline wasnt going to play anymore minutes than he did , even if he had no fouls. He had another great game though.

He s our second best player and we didnt recruit him, he recruited us.

Not very much fun watching the games now. Coach just doesnt have any mojo for the team.

Midlo we were out rebounded by 15 as usual. Zo rarely scores double digits. JJ more than covered that. I agree with eight Legger, would have found a way to lose either way. Wish we had Zo and JJ and not play DT. Still a black hole for 20 minutes. With DT and TD in at same time, it is 5 on 3 on out offensive end.

Because... Intangibles

It is difficult to watch games . We know if Cline scores 20 points in first three minutes he will sit at 17:00 .

Not very good for watching anymore.

HuntsmanSpider = Coach PLEASSSSEEE don't destroy the growing confidence of Josh Jones. So great to see him break out and have fun out there.

Best thing of the game was the SMILE on Josh Jones face when he drained that last 3 from the corner. He was having FUN. This is a big part of what has been missing. Guess what; when Josh Jones found his rhythm (playing like he used to in high school, all-star games, and playground) he had fun, and he found SUCCESS. We saw the exact same thing with T.J. Cline earlier in the season.

Players must be allowed to relax, play, and enjoy the game. A certain style of leadership (or lack thereof) negatively impacts confidence and makes many athletes tight (playing not to make a mistake, and playing not to lose).

Being tight, and playing not to lose, makes it more difficult to perform well in crunch time when confidence needs to be at a premium. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand that not excelling during crunch time will result in more losses than victories in close games.

Competitive = mediocrity = mid pack = .500 = no NCAA again.

You d think our offense would be humming and running smooth with the upperclassmen but its not ; and I think because of the lack of offensive skills; Cline comes in and plays it great, so whats happened to the others if not bad offensive recruiting?

For the life of me, I don't understand how Kendall, really believes he can layup the ball, with Shevon Thompson guarding him. But, even worse, I don't understand, why CM doesn't pull him. CM pulls every other player, who makes a decision error, why is Kendall, exempt? Kendall has one critical skill, scoring. He doesn't do much in terms of rebounding or passing, or defense. Why is Kendall basically uncoached?

TB, he drove and drew a foul on Thompson at the end of regulation and made both FTs to send the game to OT. What would you have suggested as an alternative?

He obviously screwed up at the end of the overtime, but all players make mistakes sometimes. It sucks that he did so there, but if we want to start tallying mistakes made by our guys, I guarantee you over the course of the year, he makes the fewest. And it's not even close.

On TV saw a shot of Keith Gill sitting at the end of the scorer'table. Would love to know what he's thinking about this program.

Jeff Jones was the HC at American while Gii was AD:

2006-07 American 16-14 7-7 T-3rd
2007-08 American 21-12 10-4 1st NCAA First Round
2008-09 American 24-8 13-1 1st NCAA First Round
2009-10 American 11-20 7-7 T-4th
2010-11 American 22-9 11-3 2nd
2011-12 American 20-12 10-4 3rd CIT First Round

Gill has been at Richmond for the 12-13,13-14,14-15 seasons. Our performances have been mediocre during that period.

Am sure he is publically supportive of CM.He likely does not have any other alternative disposition on the matter.

Eight , TBS can't stand KO and thinks he is the root of all evil on this team. I wish we had 5 just like him!!!! If the 4 juniors had half the heart and skills he does, we would be Kentucky.
