UR- St. Francis In Game

Coach Mooney has called his team out. He said the Spiders were playing very well, the best of the season. He also mentioned that he asked them what kind of team you want to be. He called them out and challenged them.

Noticed UCONN is getting beat at home. Boatwright is out with a shoulder problem not sure if he will play today

Like to see us playing with energy. Seems like the guys want to keep playing, what an opportunity to have three potential home games before a possible trip to MSG. Go Spiders!

Spiders playing well. TA and TJ. Still missing free throws. About 4500 in attendance. Up 21 - 11

Stonewall. You know by now we make every body look good at rebounding!! Lol.

I was going to say that maybe we could learn something from a smaller team that rebounds well. We have 7 first half turnovers.

SF is a good rebounding team by the numbers they are crashing the boards hard every possession.

ASU up 12 over UCONN
Temple in a battle with Bucknell up 3

Didn't they say the were on of the top (or the very top) teams in the nation rebounding?

41 to 30 at half. Should be up 20. Turnovers and out rebounded. TJ played about 4 minutes due to fouls. DT has 3 fouls.

Love the half that Terry Allen and Josh Jones had. Hopefully Kendall will get hot in the 2nd half and we can extend this lead and put the game out of reach.

TJ was playing well too bad he had to sit with 2 fouls most of the rest of the half. Anthony off his game but other guys stepping up how about Josh Jones? Great to see and they have no answer for Terry

I am surprised that they have not cut Kendall Anthony loose. They really haven't needed him to score much. Cline has 2 fouls. KA0 is only 1-5 from the field.

If we would just box out on the defensive end, ever, this would be a very good team. We do so many other things well.

This has turned into a mugging on the floor. Refs letting all the hand checking and pushing go. Not Richmond's kind of game.

Really need our crowd to carry us in the next lull. What's the point of home court advantage.

Is it just me or is SFB just eating us up inside? Not sure if we are making adjustments but they have been getting easy baskets down low. We are going into our 2nd half drought as usual and letting them back in. Cmon lets finish strong Anthony not one of his better games

Falling apart part of the game now. We have stopped playing defense and giving up all the offensive rebounds they can eat. 66-58 7:33 to go.

Just need to hold on yes I agree defense has not been that great or SFB is just taking advantage. Why can't we finish games strong?

SF is playing 4 guards and they are taking us to the woodshed. Mooney has no answer for it.

Well, I think we are finishing strong. Give St. Francis credit they didn't give up, but as we have on this late season, we had the answer when we needed it. KA had a really poor game but made the key buckets at the end when we needed them.

Thank you KA I knew they couldnt hold him back forever. Steps up in crunch time. Give credit to SFB they never gave up and chipped away. How about Ododa and his contributions? Really liked the balance tonight.

Scrappy team and we found a way to win without KO being a big scorer. Josh, Terry, ZO,
SDJ and KO gave some balance. The Terriers were a real physical team and in fact reminded
me of some of the old Xavier teams. They seemed to almost want to get into our heads with
their pushing and physical play. I am proud of the guys holding their cool and hanging in there.

I predict we will play better against ASU which will not be as physical but will be bigger. They
gave Arizona a tough game onTV earlier I watched. We will have to play much better all around.

Josh Jones had a nice game as well. Terry Allen had 21 points, 11 boards. He was dominating.

Happy for the win, but I thought our performance was very unimpressive. SFC is a very good NEC team, but they made a game of it, pulling within 2 points. Should not have happened. With a little luck, they could have pulled off a win. They were able to find open players in the paint, just didn't finish as many as they should have. Undersized, they still killed us on the offensive boards. Our team should watch how SFC boxed them out. Terry Allen had a great game, and Alonzo, showed some further improvement.

We have a few days to prepare for ASU, but we will need a better effort, if we want to return to MSG.

I do applaud SFC for not wilting when they fell behind by 15 points. I thought our superior talent was showing, and they outplayed us for the rest of the game. But give our guys credit, when they pulled within 2 points, we were able to close out the game, in a strong finish.

I know it was against a not great team, but I think we saw that we have a lot of scoring options on our team next year through this game. TA, TJ, ANO, JJ, SDJ all scored in double figures while Kendall had an off game until the final minutes. If any of the new comers can put up points we are going to be fine on offense next year.

I also liked the 30s shot clock. Its not often we get over 80 points!

A lot of good comments and analysis on the board. Spider defense was not as good as usually is and they gave up way too many offensive rebounds. Cline (early), Anthony (late) and Allen were big on offensive end. Nice to see ANO contribute like he did on offensive and defensive end. Go Spiders!

We can not take our foot off the pedal again if we want to get to MSG. CM should have continued with hot line up we would win by 20. Can't keep playing not to loose once we get a little lead. Ano TJ TA JJ SDJ was hot line up IMO too much subbing team got out of sink St Francis went small gave us problems.. We won but made it hard..Watched Arizona St they are tuff we have to out score them. Go Spiders

Just wondering if any VCUers showed up? A number of their posters crowed that a large number of VCU fans in Ram gear would show up and out cheer UR fans, thus making it a St. Francis crowd!

One "enemy" poster claims that the RC was less than half full and that UR squeaked by St. Francis. My question does a 10 point win qualify as a "squeak" victory?

I find it interesting that we are now a team that is making a living with points in the paint, given our propensity most of the year to fall in love with the 3 point shot.
