Congrats to Turner! I don’t know what to expect from this “season” but glad he’s getting noticed. He played extremely well in 2019.

Rob Ukrop has joined Todd Parnell of the Richmond Flying Squirrels in urging the Commonwealth of Virginia to expand the COVID-19 in person attendance guidelines for sporting events and venues.

I wonder if the AD at Richmond has a position on this? It would seem The Brick House could easily accommodate more than 250 fans safely within reasonable COVID-19 guidelines.

It sure would help most folks Spiders mojo to be able to actually attend a spring football game.

Go Spiders!

FCS Spring Football: CAA Preview

3. RICHMOND SPIDERS

LOCATION: Richmond, Virginia

STADIUM: Robins Stadium

HEAD COACH: Russ Huesman (15-19, fourth season; 74-56 overall)

2019 RECORD: 5-7, 4-4 CAA (Tie/5th)

THE SKINNY: The Spiders are only 2-7 against their three divisional opponents during the Huesman era, but seek a big spring behind one of the CAA's more experienced squads. Junior Kobie Turner is one of the nation's top defensive ends and linebackers Tyler Dressler and Tristan Wheeler are a terrific combo, each collecting 104 tackles in 2019. Dual-threat quarterback Joe Mancuso (23 total touchdowns) is capable of huge performances and will operate behind a veteran offensive line. The key losses are at wide receiver, although sophomore Isaac Brown will grab a leading role.

It’s kind of interesting to see that almost all of them are from east of the Mississippi.
And, most are pretty close to the region they are playing.
I’ve never noticed this before, but it makes sense.
