I am really enjoying watching UNI school Shaka's team right now, although it is still very early. Hard to believe we beat this team this year.

I was at the game we dismantled UNI. After that game I thought the Spiders would lose three conference games.
Cant believe its UNI making the run. We got worse, they got better.

The in-person UNI win was the pinnacle of the season for me.A big playoff football win earlier in the day at the Brickhouse and then getting this W.Not sure anyone else dominated UNI during the season as we did that night.Taylor and Davis had an unusually strong offensive game for us.They scored with precision and combined for 20.A rarity.Amazing to think that now as an 11th seed they play another Texas team(#4 Aggies) for the right to play next weekend in the Sweet16.

32, thanks for the reminder. That was definitely the best day for me too. With the various disappointments that followed, it's great to remember that victorious day. OSC

Yes great memory - about a week later a UNC alumnus told me Richmond must really have a good team. You beat UNI and UNI beat the Tar Heels. At that juncture along with many of you I thought this is going to be a great season!

At New Year's, I said the UNI game was the last one where the players looked like they were having fun. And it did look like the fun came first, then better play, not the other way around.

At the time, I didn't know that the UNI game would be the last one like that for the season.

4 of 16 games the last 2 days were 8/9. The other 12 winners - 5, 7, 7, 10 and eight 11 seed or lower. Quite a first round...

Any rumors out there about a P5 school interested in Wade? They can't keep going to that well to replace coaches consistently.

Northern Iowa up by 12, under 7 minutes, vs Texas A&M. How did we beat those guys?

We lost all enthusiasm when Wood missed the snowbird at the end of the VDU game.

They weren't close to beating us. Later lost 4 in a row to fall to 10-11, since then?
14-1 with a win tonight...

UNI just had an epic collapse to allow A&M to tie.

here is the play by play......look at the all the mistakes spelled "Jacobsen" in this....

-Jeremy Morgan makes two free throws for Northern Iowa. (69-57 UNI, 44.3 seconds left)

-Texas A&M brings ball down the floor and Alex Caruso misses a 3-pointer, but Admon Gilder rebounds the ball and puts it back in. (69-59, 34.0 seconds left)

-Northern Iowa inbounds the ball and calls timeout. (69-59, 31.1 seconds left)

-Jeremy Morgan turns the ball over, as Gilder steals it, then finds Danuel House who lays it in. Texas A&M calls timeout. (69-61, 25.8 seconds left)

-UNI’s Paul Jesperson turns the ball over when he tries to throw it off two Aggies while falling out of bounds. Jalen Jones steals the ball and slams it home. (69-63, 22.0 seconds left)

-UNI’s Wyatt Lohaus turns the ball over by throwing it out of bounds. No time comes off the clock. (69-63, 22.0 seconds left)

-House nails a 3-pointer off an assist from Caruso. (69-66, 19.6 seconds left)

-UNI’s Klint Carlson gets free deep after poor court-coverage by Texas A&M. He slams the ball home after a long assist from Jesperson. (71-66, 17.9 seconds left)

-Caruso slashes through the lane and makes a layup while being fouled by Jesperson. He makes the ensuing free throw. (71-69, 11.8 seconds left).

-Wes Washpun gets the ball on the inbounds play and gets pinned in the corner. He tries to throw the ball off Gilder’s body back out of bounds, but Gilder steals it and lays the ball in. (71-71, 1.9 seconds left).

reminds me of a duke vs unc game back in the day with the heels up 8 with 17 seconds remaing............duke won.............amazing things can happen to any team

The coaches must take the blame for not having a time out left to use in the last few seconds. Their kids were so flustered they couldn't think. All the Washburn kid had to do at the last inbounds was just heave it down court, the game would have been over regardless who may have gotten the ball. We can certainly relate to epic self destruction.

Rick, the last timeout was lost w/ 30 ish left, on the first time they were trapped on the sideline.

This is so on the players, because they kept passing back towards the basket.

this is an example of why some coaches (like CM) prefer not to blow timeouts to stop momentum if the other team makes a little run. another timeout would have been huge there for UNI.

We are not the only team prone to mistakes, collapses, players be at the root of it, or coaches having a hand in it. I feel marginally better knowing we took UNI to the woodshed even if the rest of the season was a disappointment. I'm going to use the Transitive Property on this one.

I get your point, but that game is a win for UNI 999 times out of 1000, maybe more. If the coach is to blame for not having the timeout then he should also be credited for having his team up 12 with 0:34 sec left. To me, the players (including 3 seniors with loads of NCAA experience no less) should have been able to make at least one more positive play down the stretch to ice that game.

Under new rules I think you could call the timeout anyway and that would result in a technical with a 1 free throw penalty. Thus you get the ball back and only give up one point.

yep, the uni coach went from the ace of spades to the two of clubs in a matter of seconds. am sure his agent was tossing all the feelers he was getting, alon with what he had for lunch
