teams like FDU and St Peter's aren't allowed to have nice things!

Anderson parlays his 1 year as a D1 coach into a 5 year contract at Iona.
FDU lost 16 games this year and their conference tournament championship. they wouldn't even have been in the tournament if not for Merrimack being ineligible. their NET ranking was 301.

maybe it works, but that resume is a long way from Pitino's.

Gotta strike while the iron is hot. He wasn't taking FDU to the Round of 32 again anytime soon. But he seems like a pretty good coach, and probably more in line with the kind of guy a school like Iona would attract outside of the random Pitino hire.

oh I agree he's got to jump. he might never even win the conference with FDU again, much less a tournament game.
he actually walks into an ideal situation, too, as Pitino has of course recruited well at Iona and probably leaves Anderson with the most talented team in the conference. he's set up to do really well there.

He was very successful as a D2 coach. u could say he deserved a FDU job earlier. Also has a little bit of D1 asst experience in past too. But overall a grind for those lower level guys to move up so good to see when it does happen. Not like the high level former players who get benefit of doubt. Who knows with Anderson at Iona but a lot of these D2/D3 and HS coaches can flat out coach. For instance I like Josh Merkel a lot at Randy Mac. He's got d1 asst experience too, even started as grad asst under Beilein. He's a guy I think could make the leap too if given the opportunity.

Yes, and their SOS was ranked 363rd out of 363 based on NET.

29 of their 35 D-I games were Q4 including all 19 of their NEC games (regular and tournament).

There are probably a lot of Q1 teams that are pretty glad they didn't schedule them.

NET has value, but it's also garbage in, garbage out.

FDU was 4-22 in 2022. In his first year Anderson took them to the final 32. That's a resume-builder.
he made the most of his opportunity, but he didn't even win his crappy conference tournament! he got a seat at the dance on a technicality.

lol, we beat them by 29. unless you think we were some kind of powerhouse or that Mooney was brilliant that night, I don't think any Q1 teams were scared of FDU.

Just got a commitment from Rivals no. 149 ranked player. I coached his older brother for a few years.
