Ok I’m a pass now too. But it was a great idea!Ya pass on martelli for me. He was sort of similar to what mooney is doing at the end of his time at SJU.
we need the next Mcvay.

They would all struggle having to recruit to a university with such astronomical academic standards.May I suggest someone who has been their position longer than Mooney and may want a change...

You should be interested in anyone other than CM.Not really interested in Martelli. We need some young energy with a more modern way of thinking about the game.
Walking, talking, and breathing. I think we can find qualified candidates to make things better. You should be interested in anyone other than CM.
I would think Georgetown would be looking too, or are they in the same boat we are?I guess the other thing to consider as well - who would we be competing against? What other jobs might be open at the end of the year that coaches might consider as well.
You look at the hot seat lists out there and I see schools like the following
Pitt
Georgia
Kansas State
Arizona State
Butler
NC State
From a pure money perspective - all those places pay much more than UR would be willing to pay. And all of them from bigger conferences as well. So right off the bat - I feel it could be difficult and therefore - we may need a long list. Unless - we think we hire one of these newly "fired" coaches.
How much did they fine the guy who received the head slap?Martelli will indeed be acting head coach while Juwan sits out the rest of the regular season.
Nothing for Krabbenhoft. Gard was fined $10K.How much did they fine the guy who received the head slap?
Wisconsin paid Gard's fine. Wisconsin is clearly articulating, this was 100% not our fault.Nothing for Krabbenhoft. Gard was fined $10K.
Good to hear.Nothing for Krabbenhoft. Gard was fined $10K.
and they're right. nothing happens if it's just an argument. you don't get to swing at someone, which escalated everything and could have gotten really bad. the coach is supposed to be the adult.Wisconsin paid Gard's fine. Wisconsin is clearly articulating, this was 100% not our fault.
They should be but extended Ewing after their fluke tournament championship last year. So who knows.I would think Georgetown would be looking too, or are they in the same boat we are?
Agreed. There was an awful lot of both sides at fault going on here. I still don't know what Gard did wrong. He called a timeout because Michigan was still pressing he then tried to explain that to Howard in the handshake line and Howard went ballistic. Sad thing was Howard got two of his kids suspended a game and a Wisconsin kid as well because he couldn't be a grown up in the handshake line.and they're right. nothing happens if it's just an argument. you don't get to swing at someone, which escalated everything and could have gotten really bad. the coach is supposed to be the adult.
It would be interesting to know who brought the others mother in first.Agreed. There was an awful lot of both sides at fault going on here. I still don't know what Gard did wrong. I agree with your first point, this is from the warning track in left filedOut of left field - but any chance you think Martelli would be interested in coming to Richmond if Mooney is let go?
He is older - 67. So not a long term option, but maybe someone for 5 years to get us back on solid footing after the super seniors leave and Mooney is theoretically let go.
Plus - you might be able to get him a little cheaper as he is probably not in it for money at this point. He makes 450K at Michigan right now. I think you offer 800K - maybe he is interested, not only to get back to head coach, but also gives him a shot to play St. Joes as I always felt that relationship ended badly and I wonder if he would like a shot to get back at them. And I think his son is on the staff at VCU - so family connection in town might tug him this way.
Ewing got an extension after making the tourney run last season - so likely in the similar situation. I would give anything to be 1 year removed from our last NCAA appearance at this point.I would think Georgetown would be looking too, or are they in the same boat we are?
