Who would you say is in the running for 4th in the regular season?
Unless someone gets on a bad or good streak, I would say
GW, URI, UR, St Bonaventure, Davidson, and even Duquesne.

So any head to head in those games becomes more important, and so is keeping any eye on how each of those teams are doing the rest of the way.

Other than "one game at time" and I think that should be our focus.

I know it's a logjam, but I'm not even going to consider the possibility of a bye until we get above .500.

you cant have both though so which is it!!!!

As of tonight we're only 1 game behind 4th place. Ton of ball left to be played and plenty of opportunities in our schedule to take advantage of it.

Nobody is saying it's good, just a discussion about where we stand and the path toward a bye in the tourney.

1 game behind 4th place? How is that good?

Top 4 seeds get byes in the A10 tournament. Right now the goal is to get one of those byes, hence the name of the thread.

11-0 will have us in the tourney heading into Brooklyn. 10-1 with 1 road loss has us on the bubble. I am not depending on either one of those...

We are predicted to be 7-4 the rest of the way, including a loss today. A win today shifts that to 8-3, which is likely to have us checking tie breakers to see if we need 3 or 4 wins in Brooklyn.

I don't think we are catching St Joe or Dayton so I am cheering for both of them except our senior day.

The team undefeated in conference I am still cheering against unless it directly and immediately helps us.

Poor OOC performance and weak A-10 keeping VDU out of top 25 despite being undefeated in conference play.

Problem with VDU is they haven't beaten anyone. Another A10 team, Dayton, is ranked because they have wins against Alabama, Iowa, Monmouth, Vanderbilt and Arkansas. VDU's signature win is Middle Tennessee State. Funny! OSC

It is well documented on this board why the Spiders are not in the top 25. Since you wife is a graduate of VDU, what does she think of your disparaging comments?

Hey BB3831 VDU Troll boy. LOL, she can't stand Basketball, but we do go to all the VDU football games.

This is true, but sad, since they beat us on our home floor.

Ok folks we have smoked out all the VDU coackraoaches on this board now. This BB3831 is the last POS I have to block. With the help of our moderator our board will be vermin free.

Let's go ahead and get rid of Spiderbymarriage as he often posts as a troll. He certainly is not sympathetic to the Spider cause. OSC

Does it matter, Mooney does not coach well in the A10 tournament, he has a really bad record there.

Must toe the line in order to post? Any voices that differ from the prevailing view are frowned upon.

You will get plenty of help from the moderator. If he doesn't bar your posts for not conforming to to the approach of the present regime, he will delete the thread autocratically. So you really need to be careful with what you say here.

Actually my comments are tame, compared to other Spider fans on this board. Hitler tried this and lost the war.

We need to string 4 wins together now the way the schedule has worked out this is our chance to string some wins together get over 500 in conference and get some momentum going into the final stretch against the tougher A10 teams

Agree I-M-UR - I hate to not take it one game at a time, but we need to win the next 4. All against teams below us and that should stay below us in the standings. After that - we get @Davidson, @ VCU, GW, @Duquesne, Dayton, @ GMU.

Win the next 4 - get to 7- 5 in the league and then hope we get 2 wins to round out the season finish with 9 wins in conference.

If u think we can hopefully get two wins against our last six opponents, then there is no reason for any optimism. You are saying we obviously cant beat good teams so we will go down early in tourney and season will b over. Beating the pit dwellers of the conference to show a .500 record is a very empty accomplishment, imo.

It is quite evident that Ulla has put far too much "Old Bay" in those Maryland Crab Cakes!

Well so far we have only beaten one good A10 team in GW and that was a double OT game that could have went either way. I agree - beating the bottom dwellers to get around .500 in the league is no accomplishment, but based on our what we have seen of our team so far - our defense is terrible and our offense really depends on shooting over 50% or more to win games. I think we will have another hot shooting game or two, but that's about it. Especially when we play 7 guys, it will be tough down the stretch and in the A10 tourney.

I agree. Its just not much to get excited about. If we dont improve enough to have a chance to beat the good teams there is very little hope. Heres to believing that a 4 game winning streak against will get us on a roll with confidence.

I still love going to the Robins Center to see a game. Beautiful venue for a weeknight or weekend winter time event. I am always sad when the season is over, good or bad. I will enjoy the rest of the home games and hope for the best. I have been harder on the guys than most, but only because I wanted them to succeed. Guess it's time to just sit back, relax and enjoy what's left of the season. All the pressure should be gone.
