St.Joseph's Hawk are flying.

What a fitting end to a game. Mooney still gets credits everyone wins. St.Joe outplayed us the whole game basically. They deserved to win. Our strategy totally doesn't work in this game. Even if we went to overtime. We had no legs at all. No golden or Francis. Glad the refs ended this game. And realized who the better team was.

Is anyone really surprised by this game? Just an awful performance yet again in the 1st half. We just gave St Joe's their 4th win of the year...its March 1st! The defense, rebounding and player rotations have been terrible all year. I'm disappointed but not at all surprised. This is Mooney ball year in and year out with a few exceptions. I don't want to hear about injuries or any other excuse Mooney will put out there. St Joe's is a bad team we should beat with or without BF.

looks like last game. Dig a big hole. Spend all your energy to get even and then let them just get the lead right back and finish us
When the paint is free & no one guards three point shooters, it makes other teams look good. St L & now St J play back to back to games to Mooney's great defenses. I think we got worse as the season progressed on these 2 factors. Horrible defense.

I will say that this was/is the most disappointing season of the Mooney era (and that's sayin something) I honestly believe this was Mooney's worst job yet. He had this group for 4 years (or more) and failed to develop them and failed to develop anyone around them to support them either with exception of Burton. These guys are all the same guys they always were or even less (with the exception of Nathan who developed nicely as an offensive player). In particular, we made zero progress on defense with this group and our shooting regressed. I honestly don't blame the kids and feel bad for them because their coach let them down. He settled all along the way and allowed them to settle too. He needed to demand more and them help them get there. Did neither. He's an OK coach. That's it. We'll never ever win consistently big with him - - - he's too soft and he breeds soft guys.

absolute worst case scenario playing out this season. I wish we’d just go 4-18 and end it. Now we get excuses that will keep the show going. 36-14 (or whatever the record is) the past 2 seasons despite being down 3 1,000 point scorers in this last game is the narrative. Unbelievable. We’re in completely in purgatory and it is maddening

Hate to admit it but we are not a very good basketball team. It's obvious there is some offensive talent but we are woeful on defense and rebounding. We are what we are.

St.Joe was the better team throughout. We had no answer for Ryan Daly or Taylor Funk. Everyone needs to wake up and stop supporting this train wreck. I was actually rooting for St.Joe during this game. Rooting for a team to get rid of Mooney.

What jumped out to me tonight more than ever was how freaking passive we are on offense. Like it's literally called "offense" but we play it like we're on the defensive. We trot down court, let them get set up on D and then begin our passing parade. Then someone takes a tough shot as the whole team retreats.

Meanwhile, St. Joe's attacked and made us stop them. Sometimes we did but usual we didn't. They were able to overcome a lot of crazy bad threes as a result.

This is Mooney's philosophy. Play passive, play weak and hope for the best.

Honestly, I have no earthy idea why Bailey and Wilson didnt get regular minutes all year. They'd be even further along than they are and they look like our two best players. And for sure our best perimeter defenders
Agree. Bailey in particular showed that he should have been playing more. He looked exactly like what he is at this point, a rookie with potential who needs to play. He and Wilson have now joined the LONG list of players who gained almost nothing (in game time terms) their first year because of Mooney's incompetence.

They are no-where near the first victims of Coach risk averse.

You could close your eyes and guess every word he said.

U were right. So typical. And what the F does Mooney wear at these games. We pay u 1.25 million get the suit back or put on something w our logo. It’s not hard.

we scrapped, it’s hard to get energy just to compete, these were actual words he said. No fire. When he said at the end that the season isn’t over yet it was the least convincing thing I’ve heard.

PQ's dogs have attended enough practices that they could probably coach this team to the NCAA tourney. 😁

Things I observed tonight:

1. Jacob has to assert himself in the offense (same observation from a week ago)
2. We still don’t execute basic rebounding fundamentals. This is a coaching problem, every guy here has been taught to box out before they ever made an AAU team. We do not emphasize it, they literally watch the ball on a third of possessions hoping it bounces their way.
3. Our matchup decisions are really suspect. Goose on Daly was a disaster, put Jacob on him or bring in Isaiah.
4. Liked Graces effort but why no Sal. Put Sal on Funk, his perimeter D is loads better and Funk isn’t a post type guy.
5. Defense: too much to say

The lack of boxing out is maddening. Like honestly if our coaches started telling guys to actively not box out, I don't think we could tell the difference.

And on offense, it's almost like they are wearing electric dog collars that will electrocute them if they touch the ball again after we shoot it. There was a play today when someone took a short for us (might have been Burton) and the rebound canned out a bit long and bounced on the court, headed toward Burton. No SJU player was nearby. Burton literally backtracked away from the ball that was bouncing toward him. What are we doing??
