there is no leadership at the top. You cant expect it from the players. This kind of crap shows that we have NO leadership on or off the floor. No one to settle things down and take over. NO ONE!!
Hahahahawe cannot stop them from running the clock down -- we need some quick stops to have a chance
Something needs to change. I'm beginning to lose interest. I know that I'm only one fan but no more bb season tickets for me and except for what I need to contribute to keep my football seats no more Spider Club contributions. Enough said.Running a walk on out in the second half of a critical conference game tells us what we need to know about our program right now
honestly I really admire your optimism, I just can't get there myselfwe cannot stop them from running the clock down -- we need some quick stops to have a chance

Spiders always follow up a great game with a bad one, Bonnies win by 12
Grand kids won't let me. You keep supporting this mess with your money. Wife is a UVA grad and they have a real coach. My money might be better spent there. AMFHahahah! No Boys and Girls Club with this year's tickets? What gives???
I will support my school whether they are winning or losing. BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN I HAVE TO BE HAPPY ABOUT IT.
Agree. Will support if 23-8, or 8-23, but sometimes you've got to call a spade a spade.
Didn't say I won't or don't support my school. I'm becoming very disinterested in bb. Nothing changes. It's mediocre at best and appears to be regressing. Football has recovered, LAX is on the rise and baseball is making progress and they're all doing it in the shadow of basketball which is our supposed bell cow. I will continue to support their efforts with my attendance and money as well as the academic side. I'm a proud and supportive Spider. If you don't see that there is something terribly wrong with the basketball program then you are blind. I simply choose to not blindly support that. You can bitch about it here and keep supporting it and hoping for change or do something about it. If no one shows up for the next game maybe just maybe someone who can do something will.Agree. Will support if 23-8, or 8-23, but sometimes you've got to call a spade a spade.
Thanks for clarification and no, the results do not justify the investment. I think we are saying the same thing.I didn't say you didn't, or won't support. I agree with what you said about the current state of affairs. Why invest time and hard earned money into a product that doesn't meet your expectations? If you go to a restaurant and and they keep serving you crappy food are you going to keep going back?
I was simply speaking from my perspective. By no mean is this a "dumpster fire", as some have suggested, but the situation needs to be called for what it is -- a middle of the pack A10 team with a rolls royce arena and the highest paid coach in the conference.
Do the results satisfy the investment?
I suspect others feel the same, except I would modify it to "happy about the results"
SpiderRick, I hate to be the bearer of reality, but you are too kind when you say Mooney used to be a good coach. He has never been a good coach. He happened to have Kevin Anderson on his team for 4 seasons. He is a mediocre coach at best (and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt). He has been just good enough to keep the wolves from the door. It's too bad since I think he probably could be a good coach because of his intelligence and basketball knowledge (in certain areas). Seems like a decent person which makes the whole situation worse. I am now telling myself that this next recruiting class seems to be exceptional, and maybe these players can have an impact next year. This year was supposed to be our year. BUMMER! I hate being negative like this, but I have to tell it the way I see it. Someone convince me that I am wrong. So how exactly do you prepare for a game with a two day turnaround when you take your entire staff to Ohio to impress a recruit? Maybe Moran ran practice and his reward is playing time.
Good post. Only point that I can find disagreement with is the wolf thing. I think there's pretty much a lap dog mentality surrounding the whole basketball program and coaching job. My prediction is if we perform at about the same level and don't make one NCAA appearance during the current contract period, it won't make any difference. Wouldn't expect any shake ups.SpiderRick, I hate to be the bearer of reality, but you are too kind when you say Mooney used to be a good coach. He has never been a good coach. Well, Fan, I would take a dart board with the names of those 250 head coaches at lower level D1 schools and throw the dart and I would take the coach on whom the dart landed and would say the odds are pretty good that we would have an improvement from where we are now. I won't even get started on things that almost all D1 schools do that we do not do. Let's just say that I do not think my beloved Spider basketball team has been well served over the past 11 years. How many coaches in the A10 would you put above Mooney? Does he go somewhere in the bottom 3rd ? There are ~250 head coaches at lower level D1 schools, can you point out some that would be good replacements for Mooney?
