In addition to the above, how many closed practices will there be?

None. You're only allowed 15 practice days, including the spring game.

Attended Spring Practice for about an hour today. No contact - so not much to report. Paid particular attention to the offensive line coach and the offensive coordinator - actually was able to talk to Durden for a while. Both are impressive. Cold and wind prevented much from being heard. Hopefully, I can report something worth your while when we start hitting.

Stork, Thanks for checking in and for your report. Look forward to any observations you may be willing to share.

The brief insights on the new coaches are also appreciated! The new OL coach and the new OC (along with the new strength coach) will likely be very important to our success this coming fall. KL's health at QB will likely be an equally huge factor too. Thanks.

Kyle is not practicing yet, correct? Is Collins out their at RB?

Having gone through ACL reconstruction myself, at this point I suspect Goodall and Collins are going through rigorous rehab and strengthening around the knee. Could probably participate in some non-contact drills. Lauletta would be a little earlier in the rehab phase, on the front end of the rigorous rehab and strengthening phase. Probably looks stable walking around, but still needs to be cautious when it comes to running at speed, cutting and planting. Suspect he is throwing to receivers, but too early to be part of "team drills" at full speed. All three will need to regain confidence in the strength of their knee before they can really go 100%. Depending on type of ACL reconstruction, full physical recovery could be anywhere from 6 to 12 months, mental recovery----one never knows.

how many full-pad days (hitting) are allowed, obviously the scrimmages, game but how many practices?

Of the 15 practices (including the spring game), 12 can have contact, with 8 of those being full-pad tackling. (The first two practices are required to be non-contact.)

Got my first look at Spring Practice today. Some thoughts...

-Kyle moving well on the side. KJ looking good.
-Deontez looks to be getting better and better. Palmer looks faster.
-We really have some nice depth at Offensive Tackle. Markham and Dixon are really strong backups for our level of football. Klibert is out this spring, so both of them are getting some good reps.
-The clunkiest part of the switch from Rocco and Huesman is going to be the defensive front, which is presently Wiggins-Muse-Clyde-Waller from left to right. Need to find some explosiveness off the edge. Waller has it but struggles to stay healthy. I really like Wiggins but more as a 3rd down guy than an every down guy at this point. #93 transfer from Tulane appears that he's going to be helpful with the depth on the D-Line.
-Micah Keels play more of the nickel/slot role in the 4-2-5. He'll do well there with his size. Trent Williams and Gabe Thomas looking solid at corner with Jordan out.

Overall, very good energy. Good soundtrack playing too.

Mo,
Thanks much for the updates. Am looking forward to getting out to see the guys and the "new energy."

Does anyone know who is the defensive end wearing #27 at practice this spring? And no, it is not Jay Palmer.

I am missing football badly. Excited and pumped for the spring game. Really looking forward to seeing how the interior Dline will look. Has anybody been to any practices yet? I am anticipating big things from Kolby Williams.

Scrimmage was lively, defense appeared aggressive but still learning. If Kolby can develop into an Adam Farley type player he might be able to crack the lineup on goal line "hippo" situations

Long time reader. First time poster. It's great to be here.

I hope to attend my first spring practice either Tuesday or Thursday. After speaking with a few current players, I think our defense will be top notch. I am excited to see our defensive line be more disruptive. Andrew Clyde and Brandon Waller will greatly benefit from a more penetrating approach rather than the build a wall approach. I agree with Spider Soldier and KBBFL. I think Kolby Williams can help supply depth at the nose guard position behind Muse. He can carve out a solid niche there. I am intrigued to see what we will do with our former Bandits. Micah Keels fits into the role of the new Bandit perfectly, but where will Justin Rubin and David Norris slide in? I wouldn't mind seeing that duo at the inside backers. I will be sure to report back after I am able to watch my first practice. Go Spiders!

Is Mike Iamunno still here? He tore up his knee last August and sat the whole season. Unless he's had a number change, I haven't seen him this spring.

Mancuso looks like a clone of Lauletta size wise.Coach likes his throwing arm from the Spring videos. He can also run if you watch his senior highlights.

I can't speak to his leadership abilities and other intangibles, but the kid is very accurate. If we can get away with it, I'd like to see us try to redshirt #7 again and go with #12 as backup.

Another interesting thing to watch is how #85 Ejoni keeps coming along at defensive end. If he can get another 15 pounds on his frame by fall, he could really be a factor, particularly on passing downs.

I've given up daily custard pudding and pizza for Lent.I will send to Ejoni beginning tomorrow.

Love RH's on field style and personality on the Spring Ball video. Who wouldn't want to play for that guy? No wonder he is a hell of a recruiter and successful coach. Our Program is in good hands.

Ripped a 50yd run up the middle for a touchdown in the scrimmage Saturday. Think John Robertson from Villanova a couple years back if you want a style of play comparison. Whether we give him 250 carries like JR had is a whole other story.

Agree about Robertson analogy 150%.Thought that EXACTLY when we offered and when we signed Mancuso.Calm, cool, collected kid who appears in absolute control when running an offense,
