Spiders vs. Tribe in game thread

Okay, let's be honest now. Who had this team winning eight games before the season began? Not me. Eight wins in the regular season seems to be DR's number. I am very happy with the job the coaching staff and team did this year. OSC
Rocco had great year but sometimes clock management is Londonesque. Thought UR would post 6-5 or 5-6 record so excellent job of getting players to step up in wake of high numbers of grads. That said, please change our special teams coordinator. Cannot dodge that bullet forever.

Choppin, my problem with the in game was that it was almost ALL negative -- there were a lot of good things going on and none were mentioned. If you love your team certainly you see SOME good while the play is occurring. I get frustrated and make negative comments, but I still see much more good than bad
While I was comfortable in my chair and watching the game, I had Bob Black and Chris Johnson (not sure if the name is correct) on the play by play. That way I get an unvarnished Richmond view of the game. Since I know nothing of football, I will sometimes write the comments that our play by play guys make. Does anyone actually read the in game thread? All the way through?

I do because I like hearing what other reactions are out there compared to what I observed or missed. If there were a kids version I would probably read all of that as well. I just can't get enough.

Chris Anderson pointed out that Laycock did not call time outs at the end of the game. Richmond had the ball with about 2 1/2 minutes left. Laycock seemed content to let the clock run out, but W&M had 3 timeouts left. He seemed to give up.

Laycock conceding with over 2 minutes left in the game was odd. I guess he figured if Jacobi wants a first down, Jacobi's gonna get a first down!

I was posting from the stands. During halftime, mostly, which is why the "negative" posts about the bizarro clock management (and clock operation!) which gave W&M 3 points.

I didn't say he was odd; I thought it was odd that he didn't use his timeouts with over 2 minutes left.

just finished watching a replay today. not sure i want them again. they will have the edge this time, in my opinion, they have a really good team and not sure we can do to them again, what we did saturday. if we can hold a team averaging over 200 yds per game rushing to under 100 yards and with no touchdowns, pretty amazing and just not sure we can do that twice. even DR in his post game comments felt we got somewhat lucky while still saying that our coaches and players were superb. bring on duquesne

If we play them again, you better believe that W&M will make some adjustments. We were crowding the box to stop the run and giving the 5 yard out. I would see them try to take advantage of that to force our linebackers back. Of course, our D-line handles their O line and put a lot of pressure on Cluley with only a 4 man rush. If we can do that again, then we will be fine. Also, our offence allows Lauletta to take what the defense gives him. Should they crowd the box to stop Green, then the short pass will be available. Again, it will come down to who controls the line of scrimmage and with our performance last Saturday and the fact that W&M has to play this Saturday while we rest, I like our chances.

JMU.

We're +7 in turnover margin on the season, and we won the turnover battle in 8 of our 11 games.
