Five Spiders Earn First Team All-SoCon Honors For Men’s Lacrosse
RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Richmond men's lacrosse program tied a Southern Conference and program-record as five different Spiders were named First Team All-SoCon Tuesday by a vote of league head coaches. Senior attack

Mitch Savoca (Newtown, Conn.), junior long stick midfielder
Sean Menges (Richmond, Va.), and sophomore defender
Jason Reynolds (Chester Springs, Pa.) picked up five of the 14 First Team selections.
The Spiders' five First Team All-SoCon selections ties the school record set in 2017, which is also the most in SoCon history, happening for the fourth time in the league's five-year history of men's lacrosse. Additionally, Richmond added to its SoCon-record of 21 First Team All-Conference selections in program history, nine more than the second place team in league history (Air Force, 12 selections).
Hatfield earns his third-straight First Team All-SoCon honor of his career and marks the fourth year he has been chosen for a SoCon recognition (All-Freshman 2016). He enters the 2019 SoCon Tournament as one of the top players in league history, holding the career scoring records for both the SoCon and Richmond in points (215), goals (118) and assists (97).
Hatfield ranks third in the SoCon this year in scoring with 61 points, the second-most points in a single season in program history. He is second on the team and sixth in the conference with 31 goals, while leading the team and ranking second in the SoCon with 30 assists. His 61 points ranks 21st in the nation while his 30 assist are 18th in the country. Hatfield has recorded three or more points in 11 of 14 games this season, including an eight-point effort against UMBC (Feb. 19).
Lanchbury earns his first career All-SoCon selection with his First Team accolade this year after earning All-Freshman Team honors in 2018. He set the Richmond and SoCon single-season goal scoring record this year with 45 goals in 14 games, averaging 3.2 goals per game. He ranks seventh in the nation in total goals while his team-leading 62 points ranks 20th in the country and second in the SoCon. His 62 points are a new single-season scoring record for the Spiders.
Lanchbury already ranks fifth all-time in Richmond scoring history with 105 points. He is fourth in career goals with 73 in just two years, while ranking seventh in career assists with 32. He has scored three or more goals in 11 of 14 games this year, including a career-high six goals against Jacksonville (April 6). Lanchbury also scored five goals against No. 3 Maryland and UMBC while adding four goals on three different occasions.
Savoca earns his first All-Conference accolades after also being named to the All-Freshman Team last season. He finished the regular season third on the team in scoring with 26 points, including 21 goals and five assists. He scored 15 of his 21 goals in SoCon play and has scored in seven-straight games heading into the SoCon Tournament.
Savoca scored a season-high four goals on two occasions, at Bellarmine (March 23) and last time out at No. 12 High Point (April 27). He ranks eighth in Richmond scoring history with 47 career goals after posting 25 goals as a true freshman last year.
Menges was named First Team All-Conference, marking his first-ever postseason honor. The long-stick midfielder has done a little bit of everything for the Spiders this year. The Richmond native leads the team with 34 ground balls and has also caused a team-high 23 turnovers.
Menges recorded a career-high five ground balls against both Furman (March 16) and Mercer (April 20). He caused a career-high five turnovers against No. 6 Duke (March 1) earlier this season. He was named the SoCon Defensive Player of the Week after the Spiders' wins over UMBC and No. 6 Notre Dame.
Reynolds picks up his second-straight First Team All-SoCon honor after earning the accolades last year as a true freshman. He started all 14 games on defense for the Spiders, anchoring the back end and finishing tied for the team lead with 34 ground balls.
Reynolds recorded nine games with two or more ground balls and posted a season-high five against Bucknell (Feb. 16) and Furman (March 16). is second on the team with 18 caused turnovers, including a career-high five against Mercer (April 20).
Top-seeded and nationally ranked High Point took home Offensive Player of the Year (Asher Nolting) and Coach of the Year (Jon Torpey) honors. Brandon Jones of Air Force was named Defensive Player of the Year while Riley Seay of Bellarmine was tabbed Freshman of the Year.
The Spiders earned the third seed in the upcoming SoCon Tournament and will face off against second-seeded Air Force in the second semifinal Thursday at 8 p.m. The first semifinal features top-seeded High Point against fourth-seeded Jacksonville. All SoCon Tournament games are being held at Vert Stadium on the campus of High Point.
