Did anyone at UR know a win by RI today would result in UR sharing the Championship title? CAA Commissioner seems to be making RI his retribution for Spiders leaving the CAA!
Not impossible.... it is true. Now UR athletic staff needs to clarify what was agreed to about counting the results of the Delaware game.Impossible. UR is undefeated and RI has a loss. Enjoy our championship and don’t worry about the haters. Back to back CAA Champions and leaving to go to a weak conference.
Richmond. Record against common opponents. We beat Delaware, they lost to Delaware. I think. Christ, that may be overruled too.Who is the automatic qualifier for the playoffs then?
I’m hoping AD Hardt will speak up about this joke! It is very troubling to wonder if we’ll get any support from the Commissioner for the top eight seed. Not impossible.... it is true. Now UR athletic staff needs to clarify what was agreed to about counting the results of the Delaware game.
Agree. The CAA has had it in for us for years. The robbery in 2012 involved legitimate Co-Champs and we were the ones left out!No surprise - just like Danny Rocco's first year. Yankees pledge allegiance to Yankees.
I agree. This is where Hardt needs to step up and represent for his university. He led the decision to leave for the Patriot League so he needs to show some leadership and stand up for this team publicly that we are the CAA Champions and advocate to the selection committee that we deserve a top 8 seed.
Would like to know when it was decided. You’d think it might have been mentioned last week when we earned the Auto-Bid versus the Rams.
We weren’t going to get much if any advocacy from CAA but I get that w the departure. & that over the top speech from a league commissioner in URI locker room doubles down on it.
You’d expect it from Hardt but he’s not good at it. Not a lot of pull out there from what I’ve heard.
There is really no reason Incarnate Word out of #8 league Southland should get a bye seed over Richmond of #2 league CAA.
mojo refresh my memory as to 2012, thanks.Agree. The CAA has had it in for us for years. The robbery in 2012 involved legitimate Co-Champs and we were the ones left out!
Go Spiders!
A week to rest and heal would be nice. The shutout of a decent team might help with the seeding a little after today.I could really care less about being the undisputed CAA Champion except for promoting UR as an undefeated conference champion gives us a lot more relevance on the national scene. As long as we get the top 8 seed I will be satisfied. We all know we are the real champions but this team is hungry for more and that bye means a lot moving forward.
ODU had the best CAA record at 7-1 but like DE were ineligible for CAA Championship.mojo refresh my memory as to 2012, thanks.
ThanksTo answer someone's question above, this Delaware thing was decided before the season, so this is not a last-minute decision -- it's just an absurd decision.
