Season Sum Up

TA is getting double and triple teamed and is still averaging 15.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals a game over the past month. Saying he is not stepping up is ridiculous.

Terry has averaged 13.4 points per game over the past 8. Prior to that he was averaging 20.1 per game. We have far far bigger issues than Terry Allen, but to say his production has not declined, and significantly, recently is not being honest.

Terry has definitely dropped off, he is getting a lot more double teams in conference. I still also think he looks tired, but that could just be me.

I would like to see us find a way to get him going, which probably only happens when we have enough offensive threats on the floor to make teams play us honestly.

While he is not scoring as many points, our offense is still just as good as it was when he was scoring 20 a game. He is taking fewer shots now, but those points aren't disappearing, they are going to other players who aren't getting double teamed. I would not say TA has dropped off, he has adjusted his game to the vast increase in attention he gets from our opponents' defense. That means he is scoring less but is still contributing just as much to our offense as he was before.

Well, if by just as good, you mean averaging about 5 points less per game, than I would agree. I think most of Terry's scoring drop off has been picked up by TJ. It is tough to score when 3 men are all over you and two of your options to pass that ball are named Trey Davis and Deion Taylor.

Measuring the strength of a team's offense and defense on points scored or allowed is extremely flawed. The Citadel avergaes the most points per game in all of D1, are they the best offensive team? No, they are ~200th in efficiency (points per possession) but have the highest pace by far of all D1 teams meaning the highest total points scored despite not being a very good offense.

We may be averaging ~5 less per game recently, but that is entirely due to playing at a much slower pace than we were earlier in the season. We score the same amount of points per possession but have fewer possessions, so fewer points.
