I think he'll get an opportunity early and by the end of the year we'll enjoy watching him become part of the front line rotation
I think Grant is special and I see Sal and Grant together on the floor and having the beat front line in the A-10 and one if tge best we've ever had...i believe itsimireit than just wishful thinking
They said the same thing about many skinny kids. Some put on weight, some didnt. Too many numerous examples to put here, but if you can play...you can play regardless of size. Picture him and a 7'6" wingspan? at the foul line with the option to shoot the foul shot, put the ball on the floor orodump it down lowlto Grant... THAT is more than enough firepower to open the floor up for everyone else.
Yes, let's have him go to the training table with my new friends and we can put 30 lbs on quick.
A couple of positive notes on Sal.
First, his team just won their first playoff game, and Sal scored 12 points and hauled-down 10 rebounds.
Second, Sal was voted 2nd team all-league, and his teammate, Bryce Willis, who is heading to Stanford, was 1st team PG. Looks like Sal will have at least one more game before his very nice senior season comes to an end.

Very game for Sal, and he outperformed his Stanford-bound teammate. He was clearly their best performer on his team in this "almost last game."
Usually don't get into these recruit threads too much, but Sal's got me enthused he will be the real deal. Go Sal!
Rivals has Sal as the #28 PF in the country, which puts him just outside the top 150 in the class. that's one of our best ranked recruits I can remember. just look at the insane list of schools the PFs ranked 20-50 have committed to:

by the way ... camera angles can be deceiving but #21 is Josh Alexander who is going to American and is listed at 6'8". (#4 is Sal)

Sal is clearly the tallest guy on his team and has a few inches on his teammates, at any angle I have seen in team photos. The fact that he is ranked well ahead of Bryce Golden is pretty amazing, frankly. Yea, if he can step in and start, as a freshman, we would have a really different look both offensively and defensively. Unfortunately, it seems to take Mooney recruits a full year or more to learn the great "systems" that we play. The weave offense and the match up (mash up) zone D. And then, after the year, we still give up 100 points to GW, so we may need new coaching to get Sal up-to-speed for the start of his freshman year. I really do like his potential, but finding a way to realize it, in a timely way, is the challenge. Sal or Nathan probably needs to start on the front-line for us, regardless of who that may move to our 6th-man role.
We need Bryce and Sal to bolster the front line next year. And a coach that will let guys play. Hell, I predict 7.5 minutes or more for PF with "Coach XYZ" next year.
Friendshuh needs to spend about two hours a day catching basketballs that are pegged at him from two feet away. Once he masters that, he can play a lot more.
Bryce is listed at 6'5" 175 lbs. He's not a front court player. He can add to our 5 guard lineups that we've been featuring this year.
The dining hall on the lake is quite a nice place to beef up; much nicer than the refectory some of us had to stomach.
I thought the Bryce being talked about was the one in the picture, Bryce Willis(#3). Grant not withstanding, if UR took the floor against Iona Prep, UR would be the smaller team. (referring to each teams starters)

he's an inch taller but a good 50 lbs lighter. you can play Nick and Buck at forward. Bryce is a guard.

You mean the future New York Yankee? Will be one heck of an outfield full of power.
Dribble drives Right, shoots Left. Can pass the length of the field, but often overshoots his intended target.
Really good at making the playoffs (plus). Not so good at advancing in the playoffs (still an improvement).
