Sorry to hear.

Watching him play was something special! The way he could make heavily contested shots by contorting his body makes for great Spider basketball memories. Looked like he was throwing up a prayer, but he wasn't.

Prayers to you now #32. RIP

I knew him a little bit though friendships with other players. A truly nice guy. We were not very good when I was at UR (72-76) but Bob and Aron Stewart made games fun to watch.

Bob was truly a magician with the ball. He could score from any angle, with a wide assortment of what looked to be trick shots but they weren't because he practiced them for hours on end. .

Prayers to his family. Bob McCurdy gave us something to cheer for with his prolific scoring as otherwise as mentioned by Wood Hall it was a tough time for Spider hoops. Also read the link about the malpractice suit of not receiving the proper amount of the chemo drug which made an already very challenging health situation even worse. Pray his wife will find some peace and resolution in that suit.

WH was there same years and Eric Gray and Eastman completed that special team though not great records. Two of the best games I saw in RC was during that time when Spiders beat Allen Bristol NIT champion VPI team in multiple OTs and McCurdy’s one man show against Furman’s 6’9” Clyde Mays and 7’0” Fessor Leonard in a game I believe he got both fouled out.

Thanks Carolina for the reminder about that very fun win over the Hokies............

Yes, the 2 OT game against VPI was great. Then we beat them next year too, on "Dump Lew Mills" night.

Furman was so good back then, they have really dropped off.
