I saw this posted in the SLU thread I believe and it had been on my mind as I watched the game last night. How many additional points per game would we give up if we didn’t unilaterally sprint back to defend the moment we let go of a shot?

I need a stats guy so if you’re around fan2011 I’m calling your name.

We give up 68.9ppg, good for 136 in the ncaa. By random comparison, the 262nd rated team is only giving up 4 more Ppg than we are. I have no way to gauge this but would we drop precipitously if we actually fought for offensive rebounds?

Im not claiming we don’t ever try but so many possessions on Friday we were nowhere to be found even on long rebounds.

You're not wrong. It's a really stupid concept of ours, especially because we have a "great" offense, right? Wouldn't we rather play an offensive style, given that? We suck on defense anyway. It doesn't matter if we get back early, late or not at all. But our offense should be better than most offenses. So play to our strength! But of course we won't.

For those of you that have attended practices. In a 2 hour practice how much time is spent on offense versus defense. If a scrimmage is stopped, is it to instruct offense or defense? How often is the word "rebound" used versus "get back"? Just Curious?

I don’t even care about the offensive rebounding. Being mediocre on the defensive boards would be leaps and bounds ahead of where we’ve been during the Mooney era.

It's just another of the "strong pieces" of Mooney's System. It's been a winner since day 1.
